True but temporary may be too long for Ukraine to endure without suffering even more serious damage.

well.....in terms of the fact that people are engaging with the Vatnik community and giving their crap oxygen is a win....people that engage with the UI's here; providing them oxygen is an issue in that the bollocks they type gains reactions and becomes an avenue for its further disemination. There is no difference in consuming the output here as on twitter (or whatever its called now) or any other social media space they use. That's what I meant by a win for Russia as this war is being fought within many domains - information being one of them.

Russia is a heavyweight when it comes to information warfare, for sure. They have had quite a lot of influence over American voters thanks to the open nature of the internet in particular. It doesn't help that Democrats and most other Americans seem to be really bad at countering it, though I suppose it is to be expected when the Russians are trying so hard and are schooled in it while Americans simply are not and most are not even aware of the problem in the first place.

indeed and it's asymmetric in it's nature....as the likes of Roskomnadzor has no real equivalency within the "western" sphere when it comes to regulating what effectively becomes "doctrine" in terms of this war...which...as an example you can't call it in Russia. I mean basically Russia believes itself at war with the US with Europe; with the West and the information sphere is very relevant to that war thus the propagation of disinformation is a tool of war.

Ukrainian intelligence says a Russian police base in Enerhodar was bombed in a resistance operation

From Maria Kostenko and Svitlana Vlasova in Kyiv

A still from a video posted by the Department of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine on Telegram. The post claims an explosion occurred at riot police headquarters in Enerhodar on August 28, 2023. Department of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine/Telegram

There was an explosion at a Russian base in the occupied city of Enerhodar, close to the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, as a result of a resistance operation, according to Ukrainian Defense Intelligence.

Defense intelligence said on its Telegram channel that the explosion occurred Monday morning at the headquarters of Russia's special riot police force, known as the OMON unit.

“As a result of the operation of the local resistance movement coordinated by the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, an improvised 'barracks' of the Russian Guard unit 'Akhmat-1' was 'damaged.'"

Akhmat-1 is a Chechen unit. Defense intelligence said that after the city was occupied, Chechen fighters had seized and converted a building on the site of a Ukrainian bank branch.

It said the explosion “resulted in injuries to the occupiers' personnel and cars parked in the courtyard. A fire broke out in the building. Fire crews and ambulances arrived at the scene. Information on the number of killed and wounded Kadyrovites is currently being clarified.”

Ukrainian Defense Intelligence also posted video of the explosion that showed a drone flying towards the front entrance of the building, which CNN has geolocated as in Enerhodar. There were no civilian casualties or injuries, defense intelligence said.

A Russian-appointed official in occupied Zaporizhzhia acknowledged that the military-civilian administration building in Enerhodar was hit by a drone Monday. However, the official disputed Ukraine's claim that personnel casualties occurred as a result of the bombing.

Vladimir Rogov said that "preliminarily, there are no dead or injured. Employees of the administration have already been evacuated."

Emergency services are working on the spot, Rogov said on Telegram.

More background: Ukrainian Defense intelligence has previously claimed sabotage attacks earlier this month in Enerhodar. It said there had been an explosion at a meeting of the chiefs of the occupation police on August 18, and last week another at the local headquarters of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB).

Ukrainian insurgent group claims responsibility for Kherson attack

From CNN’s Olga Voitovych and Mariya Knight

An attack on the election headquarters of a pro-Russian party in the occupied Kherson region has been claimed by a Ukrainian insurgent group.

The group, Atesh, says it blew up the headquarters of the United Russia Party in Nova Kakhovka on Tuesday. The group said three Russian soldiers were killed in the attack, a claim that was denied by a pro-Russian politician in the area.

“As a result of the fire caused by the explosion, all the documentation that the occupiers had brought for the elections scheduled for September 8-10 was burned. We will not tolerate Russo-fascist pseudo-elections on our territory!,” the group said in a statement posted online.

The town’s mayor Vladimir Leontiev described it as a “terrorist attack,” according to Russian state news agency TASS. “No one will disrupt our peaceful life,” he said.

Some context: Nearly half of Ukrainians held in detention centers in Kherson have been subjected to widespread torture including sexual violence, according to a report published earlier this month, compiled by the Mobile Justice Team, part of the UK, EU and US-sponsored Atrocity Crimes Advisory Group (ACA).

The report adds that suffocation, waterboarding, severe beatings and threats of rape were other techniques commonly used against victims by Russian guards in the Kherson torture chambers.

Russia has repeatedly denied accusations of torture and human rights abuses in Ukraine despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary, investigated, compiled and shared by international human rights organizations and news organizations.

A Ukrainian group says it's wreaking havoc on Russian occupiers, from directing missile strikes to trolling them with the national anthem
    Thibault Spirlet
Thu, August 31, 2023 at 10:08 AM CDT

A secretive group of Ukrainians took responsibility for what it called a string of devastating sabotage attack on Russian-held territory.

The group, the National Resistance Center, is run by Ukraine's special forces. It organizes local volunteers in occupied Ukraine with an aim to "turn the life of the occupiers into hell," per its website.

A representative of the group described its efforts to the Kyiv Post. The spokesperson, identified only as Ostap, said the NRC was instrumental in a devastating late-July missile attack on Russian soldiers massed on a beach.

Ukrainian partisan activity is targeting election infrastructure in occupied areas. The Ukrainian Resistance Center reported on September 9 that Ukrainian partisans in Nova Kakhovka, Kherson Oblast, blew up a car that Russian occupation officials used to move and secure ballots.[64] Ukrainian Severodonetsk City Head Roman Vlasenko similarly noted that local residents are spoiling ballots, damaging campaign materials, destroying election documents, and conducting arson attacks against polling stations to further challenge illegitimate elections.[65] Ukrainian Melitopol Mayor Ivan Federov posted footage on September 8 and 9 reportedly showing strikes on local settlement elections and United Russia party headquarters in occupied Zaporizhia Oblast.[66]

Democrats are their own worst enemy. Don't blame that on the Russians. Progressives label anything they disagree with as nazi. fascist, racist, bigot, sexist. We just stopped listening nor caring.

You're talking about a vocal minority. The difference is that the vocal minority has not taken over the Democratic party, nor does it have a Trump-like figure who breaks the law and has the party trying to cover for him.

Any idiot who wants to claim that their political leaders do not "break laws" is willfully ignorant.

They all do. It's just a question as to how well do they cover their tracks. So I reject your high horse.

I'd say it's more a question of how serious the violations are. Everybody breaks the law since everybody speeds a bit when they drive, but not everybody does what Dirty Donald has done.
