If you're on the team which insists that gender is whatever an individual declares it to be, and that same should be legally recognised, how on EARTH are you going to implement and police gender-based reparations?

Are Progressives THIS stupid, that this hasn't occurred to them? Please .. for the love of all things IQ, someone say that isn't so.

Why are you citing communist nations? I'm a socialist capitalist.

You are correct. My bad. Back to my main point: you look at how small but well Sweden runs while remaining internationally unimportant and I can see high, non-distributionist taxes would then collectively pay for much. I look at how large and unwieldy the US is, while sticking our noses into every g.d. thing and I just cannot see such programs working well here. A government that can barely be trusted to fill a pot hole sure shouldn't be handling anything more than necessary.

The government handles things extremely efficiently when it wants to. Look at the IRS, for instance.

The problem is that we Americans have a bad habit of trying to keep up with the rest of the developed world while keeping one foot in the past (i.e., we're stuck with the Republican Party's regressive ideology).

The FBI did a pretty good job spying on a US Presidential contender in 2016 too. Amazing how well a thing works when it is self serving but we're talking about services for the people/citizens themselves.

Republicans look at how badly the US government does virtually everything (besides the military government program that competes with others' military government program) and tries to leave as much money as possible with the people that earn that money. The wealthier ordinary workers are, the less they need a 3rd party spending yet another's party's money on them. Even a fool can spend his own money better on himself.

I'll try to find that TED talk for you where a guy speaks to his ordeal renewing his license. He notes, correctly, that if the motor vehicle registry had private sector like competition, he'd have just sent a selfie to them, they'd have his credit card on file and would have mailed him his new license. Instead he's online filling out forms, getting mailed forms he has to take to the registry anyway, using freaking checks (I still do to pay my MV Registration at town hall annually) and more.

We do have private sector competition for the MVD, called MVD Express, for good reason.

We spend as much on our military than the next several other nations combined and they are even starting to catch up to us in terms of technological advancement.

And I will have to disagree that a fool can make better decisions than government, even as inept as it is. I know people that get tax refunds every year and instead of saving it or paying down bills (or mortgages that are about to go into foreclosure) go and buy a new TV instead

I get an email when mine is about to expire, I verify a few questions online and receive my license in the mail.

Where are all of y’all living that it is such a nightmare?
I’ve been licensed in SC, NC, TN, CA, and WA and never had any issues.

Phew. Maybe they're catching up. Helped my mom get her's renewed in Massachusetts just last spring. She'd gone and been told to come back. We did so on a Saturday morning. The ordeal lasted about 4 hours. I kid you not.
