Elon Musk proposals to end the war in Ukraine

Loss leader appears to be a strategy you ignore, deliberately or not. Look it up and btw, charities are mostly corrupt organizations masquerading as white saviours.

 

I completely understand "loss leaders," as when a supermarket offers grapes, at 99¢ a pound. It is apparently you, who does not understand the concept, if you regard any contribution of one's products, as excluded from being considered "generous." Understand, I am not discounting the possibility that this was a savvy business move, by Musk, to show the value of his service, in the effort to liberate Ukraine, in the hope that this might lead to having the U.S. start paying for it. The two points, obvious to all here but you, are:
1) You have zero proof, that this was the motivation. Your opinion is based on an assumption of all rich people. While they are hardly as sympathetic a group, as most minorities, this is a prejudiced attitude, and what you are doing, in principle, is no better than someone else, assuming that all poor blacks, are thieves.

So perhaps we should add "hypocrisy," to your vocabulary, study list.

2) Even if this had been Musk's hope, there would still have been no guarantee, that his company would recoup that loss, with business it would spawn. So it would have been his taking of a chance, from which Ukrainians would benefit, even if it did not pay off, and it has been, a huge boon to Ukraine's efforts.

As I now recall having seen you, in another thread, arguing against helping Ukraine, since we had not helped other countries/regions, in somewhat similar situations, I now fully understand, just how insincere, is the argument you are putting forth. Yes, that vocabulary list of yours, is sorely missing the term, "hypocrite."



So you are against rich people, in general-- got it. Or maybe you have some special, personal disdain for Musk, such that you are driven to offer these lame, and insulting arguments, against my merely using the adjective "generous," to apply to the free services he's provided Ukrainians, which has included the launching of many satellites, as I understand it-- not an inexpensive venture. Whatever: it was not extravagant praise I was lavishing upon him; and I certainly was not regarding him as a "savior." My personal jury on Musk, the man, is still out. I've not enough concrete, and too much contradictory, information, to be certain about his overall character. Your character, on the other hand, has been amply, and consistently proven.

 

Apparently the DOD isn't picking up this expense, so Musk said fk it, he'll keep providing it for free. Musk a "Putin sympathizer"? These precision weapons that are lighting up the Russians utilize satellite guidance.

 

Very reasonable, only one thing is missing: who will pay for the destruction of Ukraine?

BTW - free election in Mexico or El Salvador will add huge territory gain to the US.

 

As you offer no verification for this claim and, the last I had heard, Musk & the U.S. were still having discussions, over price, I will couch my response in terms of caution. I would be extremely surprised, given how affective a tool this has been, if our government was unwilling to pony up at least some of the cost for it. In fact, I'd heard it reported on PBS that the Ukrainians have just now been experiencing outages in the Starlink system, which greatly damages their defense efforts. I had taken this to be Musk's way of playing hardball: of showing what will be the result, if we don't go for the deal; and, while I recognize the business rationale for that, it had struck me as very unsavory behavior, from him.

However, if your claim pans out, and the U.S. has actually turned Musk down, but he is going to keep providing this, for free, I would call that a great thing, he was doing!
