Clueless again. I walked into my bank and told them that if they charged me for my checking I was leaving. I closed my account 15 minutes later.

They don't (*)(*)(*)(*)ing care if you leave. Chase is building branches all over California.

Do you know how much hassle is involved in a business changing banks? It's why banks know they have a captive audience. It isn't just a case of closing here and opening there, especially these days when so much business is conducted by automatic transactions, to and from business accounts.

I agree with this. As soon as you walk into a bank, you are not a customer, you are a burden.

Chase was happy to have me leave. I was glad to oblige them. so for the time being, I am with US bank.

I went with Bank of the West.

I was utterly stunned with Chase when they didn't even make any type of play to keep my business. It was like the guy was so desensitized with the process that the inevitability didn't bother him whatsoever.

I had Chase in AZ. Once my employer at the time, their checking account got high-jacked. So Chase was closing it down and opening up another one with a new account number.

Since my employer and I both were Chase customers, I figured it was no problem to cash the payroll check, then put it in my checking account. Chase said no, I would have to pay a fee to cash a check. I explained the situation to them. The insisted that I put my own checking account on the payroll check, because of the problems. I asked what happens if the payroll check bounces and I have checks that bounce, then I have to pay all the fees? They said yes.

See banks to give a (*)(*)(*)(*) about you. I have a payroll check, I need to cash to pay my bills. Its not my fault my employers checking account was hacked into. But Chase would have hung me out to dry if there was any problems with the pay roll check.

    BANKS ARE CROOKS – Period.

Agreed, banks must be heavily regulated nowadays.

All the more reason to regulate the industry so that results are predictable.

    So you're making my point

How would that have changed what he related?

What are regulations getting me, a $4 checking account fee when I had none before.

    No thanks on your regulations.

I'm not arguing against it. I'm pointing out that it's the public that will pay the price.

Can a print out be used in court to prove you paid something?

Judging by the article, this isn't evidence that regulation concerning small business banking is bad....

It's evidence that the regulation didn't go far enough to protect the working class.

Bankers and the credit industry in general are very unethical -- especially at the larger levels. They will charge for anything and everything if they are allowed to.

That's how conservatives tend to argue: a problem arises, they prevent the needed regulation to address it, the problem persists, if more manageable because of regulation -- the conservative conclusion: regulation caused the problem.

It's as if their reasoning centers are stuck on reverse.

The left said there was a problem and pass this inane bill. Conservatives were quite happy with the way debt cards and checking accounts were being paid for or not.

I doubt it that every single bank in America will eliminate free checking and other services; its called competition and if they want your money, they'll proivde you with free checking and other ancilliary services.

In the meantime, go to a credit union; they are not bound by the same laws as Banking institutions are and whatever fees they do have are much more reasonable then regular banks.

It is not competition when government controls the pricing.

I don't want to go to a credit union I want to use my full service national bank.

Can you even tell me how this was suppose to better serve me the customer?

Credit unions are better than banks in general.

They're doing it. I also got a letter from Wells Fargo that I will no longer receive points for using my debt card, they are ending that program or rewards for using it.

    Thanks Dodd you idiot!
