Your version of 'whites' (Europeans) didn't contribute much on their own until the 18th and 19th century. Even then, alongside the contributions that you think have 'blessed' your life, if you want to lump everyone based on their 'race' in one group, then you have to count their countless crimes too.

In the meantime, I like to see how far 'advanced' European civilization would have become if you still calculated things using "Roman numerals"? (never mind the fact that even those numerals are derivative of what were developed in earlier civilizations outside of Europe). Numerals they learned about through a Persian mathematician, Khwarizmi.

I like to know how Copernicus could have helped free the western mind of the dogma of the Church (and Aristotle) if he couldn't do his calculations using the Tusi Couple, first proposed by a Persian mathematician and astronomer (and theologian and many other things)?

I like to know if Descartes could have helped break the dogma, and reinvigorate the skepticism that is critical to the advances of the enlightenment if he had only been exposed to the ancient Greeks and Romans but hadn't learned the lessons from a host of Persian philosophers and jurists who had already shown the limits of reasons using the same methodology to establish the same thing as pretty much its only provable axiom: "I think, therefore a I am".

I want to know what would the "Bible" really say if it wasn't already hugely influenced by Iranian, Zoroastrian, thoughts to help the tribal myths of the ancient tribes of the near east find some universalist intimations?

I want to know if Gutenberg would have ever developed the printing press without the huge advanced already made by Persian, Greek, Chinese, and Muslim practices?

And long, long, before your version of 'indoor plumbing', we had the Persian one!

What you had is a couple of centuries (18th-20th century) when European (and its extensions elsewhere) civilization claim an ascendant and dominant position in world affairs. From our perspective, living today, their advances are certainly more directly felt. But while myths like Democracy, and myths that pretend that the material world is the 'be all and end all' of everything, might be purely European in origin, and while no other place developed propaganda as extensively and effectively to divide people. and while the Industrial Revolution, as well as the economic and political systems that arose from it, are the products of "Western civilization", there is much falsehood and a lot of nonsense that has always covered whatever "Europe" has accomplished. And a lot of destruction to prevent us from every knowing what others might have accomplished (and how quickly) if they didn't have hooligans burn down their cities and more.

    Fail.

We CAN produce everything that is required.

People living in poverty aren't interested in your self-satisfied, inadequate, indifferent "realism".

OTOH, I have already pointed out how poverty can be eradicated; you didn't bother to examine the choices available to government, probably because you are ideologically opposed to government intervention in "invisible hand" markets.

Blessings to your forefathers. I am glad for you for yours. So be glad for me for mine. No man is outside the scope of God.

    A rather 'enlightened' observation.

So why this excrescence from you:

"So why this Forcing taxpayers to bear the cost of treating sick smokers, and then suing the tobacco industry for the cost; is like forcing taxpayers to eat cow manure, and blaming the cow for the taste".

...considering that very issue (smoking) is associated with poverty in black ghettos.

You of course are only concerned by the cost to you of treating sick smokers, yet you defend the right of the tobacco industry to advertise their wares.

In any case the government doesn't need your money, to treat sick smokers.

White supremacy does not exist, if it does how can non white groups such as Asians be doing so well? It's an excuse for the African American community to ignore the real reason for their failure to advance as far as they should have (for they certainly have come a long way in recent decades), the violent criminality of their young men.

I am opposed to government intervention in most areas you would be correct. I dont believe government is the solve of the problem they have helped create.

I cannot be proved wrong in this debate. I posted a ton here; just click on my name and look for recent posts in this thread. If you are too lazy to do so, then you are not worth debating.

"except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted",
Obviously they had to add that distinction so that criminals wouldn't use the thirteenth amendment to avoid incarceration or chain gangs. It wasn't written to set up blacks for future enslavement for petty offenses as you suggest. There is nothing racist about it.

As for vagrancy laws, they probably applied to anyone. And apprenticing a child back in those hard times was probably nearer to a kindness than to an act of cruelty. At least the Parent would know that their child had a roof, food, clothes, etc. My Grandmother was involved in something similar, or so the story goes...as some type of servitude while a child. She was half white, half native.

Before, during and after the Civil War, many blacks in Louisiana held positions of power and influence, owned slaves and plantations.

Anyway, I guess my point is that cherry picking history to advance an agenda is a distortion. There is much that is good and bad in everyone's lineage.

This is not cherry-picking history, but just one of a plethora of examples of systemic racism being instituted.

The entire earth practiced systemic racism of all races for thousands of years. What I see is the disbanding of it over time. No living American has ever been a slave or slave owner in this country. Black Americans are not systemically oppressed, but are afflicted and misled by their own political designs, choices, and personal conduct and behavior. Such is life in liberty. They have exactly what they bargained for. If they don't like it, they can blame themselves and the Democrat party who suckered them into it.

You are wrong here. The Balkans conflict doesn't go back thirty years - it was a troubled
east vs west, north vs south area AS FAR BACK AS THE ROMAN EMPIRE, MAYBE LONGER.

That they are the chosen people of 'god', Deut. 7,6.

authorised by 'god' to commit genocide.

    Duet. 7,2. Joshua 10,40 1 Samuel. 15.1-3.

    Re "chosen people":

    Chosen people
Throughout history, various groups of people have considered themselves to be chosen people by a deity for a purpose, such as to act as the deity's agent on earth. In monotheistic faiths references to God are used in constructs such as "God's Chosen People". The phenomenon of a "chosen people" is particularly common in the Israelite tradition, where it origin…

    Yes.... tribalism.

In Greenwood in 1921 there occurred a genocide committed by resentful whites on a successful black community.

That sort of racism has been responsible for the formation of black ghettos in the decades since, among other things by such active discrimination of the type that MLK was still railing against in the 60's.

A statement proving denial, indifference, and satisfaction with the status quo emanating from the ruling neoliberal orthoxy are alive and well.

Yes well...... keep believing the earth is flat...but better educate yourself.
Neoliberalism will destroy the planet, because it fails to take account of waste polluting the environment (apart from willfully blaming the victims of poverty for their plight).

A few dozen dead is not a "genocide" in any rational vocabulary.

Like all things, it's complicated. And it offends the modern mind.
(you only have to see the news to grasp the modern mind is not
    necessarily any wiser.)
The Jews ARE (not were, are) a symbol of God and His people.
Jews are no different, in a sense, but they function as a symbol
because for everything claimed in the bible, there exists/existed
something tangible. In this case there's the people of God, the
land of Promise, the spotless lamb slain, brought out of Egypt,
    exile, rebuilding etc..
The bible says that Jews will return a "second time" to their home
land, at a time BEFORE their first exile to Babylon. Jesus said it
will be when the "Gentiles time is fulfilled" which is our age. And
just this week - the first inkling of American Jews feeling they are
no longer safe in America. One day ALL Jews will be back in their
    land, according to Ezekiel.
And the Jews will be small in number (if like any other people there
should be more Jews than Americans by now) and a blessing to
the nations that accept them; and rejected and outcast of many
nations - but still a people long after most of the peoples of the
    bible are gone.

For "genocide" it can be said the Jews failed in their promise to
rid Canaan of the Gentiles. And in failing this they became like
their enemies, and as a result they were carried into exile.

    She's an evil white person.
No matter that she also a repressed woman.
Imagine saying a black woman is evil because she's black.
That would be sexist and racist, wouldn't it?
See how racial prejudice has slipped back into our society,
without people doing anything to stop it early enough.

"The Red Cross, in their preliminary overview, mentioned wide-ranging external estimates of 55 to 300 dead; however, due to the hurried nature of undocumented burials they declined to suggest an estimate of their own stating, "The number of dead is a matter of conjecture."[3]:3 The Red Cross registered 8,624 persons, recorded 1,256 residences burned and a further 215 residences looted as a part of their relief effort.[3]:Condensed Report: p. 4, 12 183 people were hospitalized, mostly for gunshot wounds or burns (they differentiate in their records on the basis of triage category not the type of wound) while a further 531 required first aid or surgical treatment with an estimated 10,000 persons left homeless"

Get over it. Europe was annihilated twice and look at it today. Germany was ground to powder and look at it today. The day after the War ended Germans shut their mouths, got off their asses and started cleaning and rebuilding. The victim card is bullshit.
