If the kid has a good lawyer the lawyer will get the kid to blame the murders on the parents and get an insanity deal for the kid.

How out of touch would you have to be as a parent to buy the gun just days before, come to the school because he was drawing pictures of shooting people, and not have the instinct to even ask if he had the gun with him?

If they locked up the gun, how did he get it. Nobody said anything about the gun being locked up.

You should stop watching MSNBC. They lie, a lot, and get things wrong a lot even when they're not working overtime to deliberately mislead their audience. The boy never disappeared. He was arrested at the school, moments after shooting his classmates, and has remained in custody this entire time:

This is a good question. At this point, we don't know.

The parent's lawyer definitely said it:

I don't see how even a great lawyer or anything the kid says could "blame the murders on the parents". Ethan pulled the trigger, not the parents.

Ummm….you do realise that 4 kids are dead…? You do realise that the murderer’s parents provided him with the weapon…?

Where does any sense of political affiliation enter into this tragedy…?

And the parents are guilty why??

If I was Supreme Dictator, that judge would be fired or forced into some demeaning punishment.

The parents were tired of their wimpy son and decided to get rid of him. So they bought him a gun and hinted that he should use it against his tormentors at school. Since most school shooters get killed in the act they didn't expect him to survive. But, after the shooting he wimped out and now they are in the same jail he is in.

The kid's lawyers will be idiots if they don't get him to blame it on his parents. That will show diminished culpability on his part, resulting in a lighter sentence. And the lawyer should have him crying, like Kyle did.

Did they not buy him the gun?
Did they not fail to secure the weapon?
Did they not fail to act after the meeting at the school?

    They were accessories…

    Your point being?

SHOULD they have had an obligation to?
I think you are being ridiculous.

This is just gun control under a different guise.
It's kind of a borderline situation because the teen was somewhere in between an adult and child.

Well, I'm not sure they really had justifiable reason to.
You seem to want to force parents to enforce red flag laws under threat of punishment.

Also remember the school meeting only took place a few hours before. You're expecting parents to act that fast?

There is no evidence at all to support this nutty conspiracy theory.

They are adults…they bought the gun. Of course they have a responsibility.
He’s 15…he’s a kid, nowhere near an adult.
The parents could have acted as soon as they were alerted by what happened at school. At the very least, they could have taken him home with them, then and there…

Who knows. Nobody said anything because all the details haven’t been released. Kid may have found the key, maybe it was an action lock that he cut, who knows

I disagree, every adult who work's in schools is responsible for the safety of each child even it's just reporting a child's odd behavior which happened here. Safety is a pyramid that starts at the bottom and works it's way to the top and this includes the kids who are at the bottom who witnesses odd behavior from another student should be reported. Have we not learned anything from past shootings?

At this point I'd assume that they and everyone else wishes they had. I suppose that at the time, in their minds the gun was locked safely away at home. And that they would speak with their Son in a more private and appropriate setting at home rather than in an administration office with strangers present. Maybe their Son was always a bit off but never a problem, and they thought he'd grow out of it. Maybe they thought his drawing was a fictionalized story like something Steven King would imagine. Didn't Beto ORourke write a story in junior high school about murdering someone? Ethans Parents didn't have the luxury of the future as a backdrop against which to measure the situation. And I suppose that their love and hope for their Son eclipsed all else. But what could be and what is are two different things. Maybe they're monsters and maybe they aren't. Maybe's are not a cause of legal action.

I buy my kids guns. I’ve done it multiple times actually. Bought my oldest his first gun at 4 1/2 years old.

securing the weapon is not a required action by law. That said, the defense claims the gun was locked. So the burden is on the state to prove it was not even though they’re arguing over emotion because there is no law requiring it.

The school also allowed the kid to stay in class. If the state or you truly believed the crap you’re putting down the state would have the principle behind bars too. All parties let the kid go back to school, not just the parents.

The lawyers for the parents already have a history of lying.
They said the parents would turn themselves in if indicted.
When the parents failed to show up for arraignment, the lawyers said that they would be along soon.
After the cowardly parents were found hiding in a warehouse, the lying lawyers changed the story about the gun being locked up.

I would not trust these sleazy lawyers to tell the truth any farther than I could throw them.
