Oooh! Thanks for the warning! I kinda felt like that for some reason. It's why I am being careful already.

To answer your question, I haven't given it much thought. I typically ignore generalizations.

This entire conversation is about generalizations.

Ok, now go back and read the highlighted part of your comment. I turned it red for you.

Forensic anthropologists can determine race just from a few bones.

Right! Which is what race is...a generalization about a group of people who have a few things in common.

And read the clause that follows: "differences in genetic ancestry that happen to correlate to many of today’s racial constructs are real."

There are objective differences that correlate to the social construct.

I don't know why calling something a social construct is supposed to mean it doesn't exist objectively. Gravity is a social construct, for instance.

Those commonalities are established by traditional behavior you know.

We are merely another species on this planet and since you are an atheist you recognize that, so why do you expect us to act any different than any other species. Ants have many different sects and they all behave differently, so shouldn't humans?

Birds are a species but different birds act differently, why are humans any different?

You are speaking as if you believe man as a more supreme purpose which according to science, we do not.

No, gravity is a law of physics.

And, a social construct can be deconstructed. That is the significance.

He doesn't believe in evolution of humans. That's pretty special.

The "race is a social construct" types don't like generalizations because they are working from an ideological construct that generalizations don't apply to skin color. Yet, if race is a social construct, then why are africans in the congo typically dark skinned?

They can't go there, so they refuse to. Why are black schools filled with students who just can't come up to the average? Nope, they can't go there, either. They might pull one black student out of their magic hats, and then argue against the mean. Yet, they know that is intellectually dishonest.

    they just don't care.

I don't feel as though I am acting that way.

I am just saying that we should stop accepting predetermined notions about people of certain skin colors that are based on generalizations formed in an era of slavery and inherent discrimination.

    Physics is a social construct.

Sure. Physics can be deconstructed, too. Doesn't mean it is a good idea.

Even if you deconstruct race, the biological differences will still persist.

Exactly, if someone claims they believe in evolution they claim they believe in the separation of species, including humans.

So why wouldn't blacks be different from whites and whites different from browns and browns different from yellows?

OK, that wasp who is technically a bee won't sting you because bees fly away when threatened and wasps sting you.

Where did you get that idea?

Go back and read what I have already written about the gene flow and time and space. Obviously I believe life is evolving.

Except you believe the human species all evolves the exact same way.

    That's laughable.

And evolution results in different subspecies, i.e. races.

Before I went back to college I spent 7 years as a Directv Tech. I can tell you from personal experience that wasps have a bad reputation. I have dealt with dozens of active wasp nests without getting stung or even upsetting them.

Racism will persist as long as humans are mean and horrible to one another, trying to pretend we're all the same is ridiculous. We're not and no one wants to be, most people are quite happy with who they are and being different. What we need to do is keep calling out racist behaviour and stop it. A bit like teaching people how to get along and that it's ok to be different and we should never discriminate against someone because they are different. Not try and go on a genetic quest to prove we're all exactly the same... that's stupid, we know we're all humans we don't need you to tell us that.

    There is no subspecies.
"There are no objective criteria for choosing one adaptive trait over another to define race. As a consequence, adaptive traits do not define races in humans" Yet, "chimpanzees are indeed subdivided into races but humans are not."

The article goes into detail about why humans are not divided into races or subspecies.

    Ahhhhhhh!

But how did they get that reputation my friend?

    By not stinging anyone?

That is the ultimate question here.

Bees never got that reputation and why not?

    Why aren't brunettes considered fiery?

Answer those questions you might find your answer.
