If the goal is to stimulate the money should go to people who will spend it. Social Security on fixed incomes will spend it .

Oh I don't know. I like being stimulated every now and then. Of course it depends on who is doing the stimulating.

Cuomo did not whine he stated what his state needed. The USS Comfort was asked for Trump did not just send it.
The so called ban on Chinese was too little too late and it targeted Chinese Nationals but Chinese Americans came in and they likely had the virus.

The Javitz center had New York State Reservists and NY State National Guard there and there likely could have been federals there since for a long time now certain functions regular units and reserve / guard components do intergrated on certain types of missions.

The so called Covid Task force did not seem to do the task. Those briefings were dog and pony shows with Trump calling for use of a medication that was not proven to have positive effects on the task of managing the virus.

Accusations of hatred whenever someone does not blindly praise your POTUS is beyond wasteful.

    As opposed to this genius:
    SchumerTravelBan.jpg
and the genius de Blasio who celebrated the lunar New Year in NYC on Feb 9
    Jan25-Feb9-NYC-Chinatown.jpg

When did Pelosi tell all Americans to visit Chinatown in her district because all was fine. What did the genius say a couple of days ago?

This pales in comparison to the genius progressives, offspring of bathroom segregationist Woodrow Wilson, who went to Madrid to celebrate International Woman's Day on March 8 so they could bring the disease back from Europe March8IntWomensDay.jpg

Then the genius Democrat John Bel Edwards infects a whole swath of Southern States and levels an attack against Blacks in general and Zulus in particular on February 25
    Feb25MardiGras.jpg

We need fewer of you geniuses.

    I agree with you.

For example businesses that refused to follow CDC guideline should not get a stimulus for. They should be allowed to go bankrupt. it's not the American people's responsibility to subsidize their stupidity.

I appreciate your well thought out and stated "arguments" I mean that in a positive way. I did not consider the fact that you bring up about costs rising for food because of this pandemic. I must be in a better position than many retirees. We started limiting our trips to the stores and we wore masks and used to wear gloves also going to BJ's which luckily is within a mile of our place. My wife tried ordering non perishables through Amazon and being a Prime member there was no charge but you are correct she found that the costs were higher than BJ's and the cerial was stale.
We did not eat out too often even before the pandemic but about a month or do ago we started getting a pizza from our local place which dies not deliver and we did not go there until they started using masks and it was pickup only but also with masks for customers. We don't mind leftover pizza and their large we get 3 meals and lunch for one. Luckily we have enough freezer space so we resorted to buying meet in bulk from BJ's and I learned how to cut it up pack it and freeze it.

I was obviously not cognizant that people have been pushed into the position to have to use food banks for the first time. I really appreciate you mentioning that fact. It was a wake up call for me. There was a time in the early 1990's when I got laid off and that very same day my wife went into kidney failure. A few months later when my severance ran out and I had to go on Cobra in order for my wife to have dialysis and I started depleting my 401ks to pay mortgage expenses and real estate taxes and our meager savings ran out paying Cobra would have been living under a bridge. We were lucky enough to be living within a driving distance to a military base ( I am a military retiree) we were able to use the commissary. We limited trips to once per month brought molest and bought basic basic food. So yes I was once right on that edge. You reminded me of that time. We were not shut down I ended working three part time jobs making 1/3 of my prior salary. What made me not give up like some guys I knew from my company was that my folks came here as refugees with toddler PARTIZAN in tow and they made it who was I to fail by giving up.

I really agree with you that the stimulous payments should be for people under a certain income level.

I also agree that the extra unemployment payments of $600 is too much and it has to cause a disincentive to work.

Semper fi and best of luck go your son and those six kids and of course his wife.

So I took a few virtual steps in your virtual shoes and am rethinking or at least modifying my thoughts on the Stimulous.

    Good luck to you also.

Too little too late and I do not believe that "they" were all quarantined. Those from cruise ships were quarantined at certain military bases.

At least a few locals getting a few things possibly wrong does not have the broad impact that a POTUS either doing nothing, kicking the can go the states and telling untruths at warp speed.

As were those that came in on airplanes. I am retired military and I receive the Air Force Association Daily Briefing. It discussed about how they quarantined the aircraft, crew and passengers at various Air Force Bases and Joint Tenet Bases. .

Lives were ruined and lost by the virus also.

What if we did not do any shut downs? Would we be practicing like that WWII movie- "They Were Expendable". Is it like war. Do we set a level of acceptable deaths for our expendables?

Absolutely! Trouble is not many small consumer goods are made in America anymore.

My friends who draw SS retirement , with many having that as their primary income spent that last 1200 bucks on needed consumer goods including tires for their cars.. I have other money saved over the years and land that could be sold if I ever need more income but not all of my peers do..They own their paid for homes though.

These people stimulated the economy being needy . So what better people to send that 1200 bucks to if stimulation is important?

No doubt stimulating Mexico's and China's economy was done as well..

Middle class lower middle spent it too..
But besides our kids having to pay it back, those trillions cause inflation. How can it not?

I know a lot of people do not want to hear it, but there is a level of acceptable deaths in virtually everything we do. At least that is how we look at it. It is not just acceptable levels. They are a trade off. We take risks here in order to gain something elsewhere.

Automobiles are almost a perfect example. They end up being responsible for more deaths than most human endeavors. But we accept the occasional deaths because of the benefits.

Glad to see you agree that these stimuli do cause inflation.

The stimulus don't cause inflation as much certain products becoming scarce. For example, most restaurants have raised the price of any dish which includes beef.

We also have cars safer. Working in mines causes deaths. Being a policeman or a fireman can be deadly.

We do take safety precautions. Reminds me that OSHA department they are job killers. What about we defind OSHA and accept more deaths in the workplace.

BTW- Humans driving automobiles is a human endeavor. Well it was until self driving cars. But self driving cars will kill humans. Will we accept that?

One endeavor we do accept death is in the military.

Wait a second can you clarify that? Stimulus payments caused beef to be scarce?

No, that is not what I said.. Lack of workers to process the beef caused the beef to become scarce.
But people still get killed in autos, just like every other human endeavor and we accept it, including the military. Within the last month or so, several pilots have been killed in noncombat aircraft crashes. And occasionally we hear about a death due to combat or non combat sources in Afghanistan and we accept it.

True. The Democrats are driven more by emotion than logic at times so they what to stimulate anything that moves. Republicans came to stimulus payments reluctantly. Remember when Trump said that all we needed is do is suspend payroll taxes to stimulate the economy?
He should have changed Defund Social Security , Defund Medicate.

I concur and have directed by request on the IRS.gov site that any checks originally meant to be sent to you, be sent instead, to me, who has greater need , thus by Marxist Socialist doctrine, a justifiable redistribution
