Putin thought he could roll into Kiev with barely a fight.

Trump still hasn't even denounced his hero putin. No doubt he's afraid to do so.

Today Putin held a highly patriotic rally to support the war. The theme song was "Made in the U.S.S.R"..

Does anything about this look and sound familiar?

This doesn't answer @ Creasy Tvedt post in the least.

Trump's bite is much stronger than his bark. Biden has some bark but does not have any bite, and Putin knows it full well.

What does this have to do with clean EVs???

As opposed to Obama who couldn't fly off to Allah fast enough and apologize to every middle east country in sight and promise to never do it again (whatever "it" was).

Biden is doing a fantastic job. And Russia is getting its butt kicked.

Your ridiculous racist crap is irrelevant. And clearly trump is irrelevant. Putin has by all accounts gone mad. Maybe he is mad because his boy lost.

You will have to ask the person who started it.

Creating the energy without fossil fuels is easy, we have been doing it for decades. Nuclear. Far more green than wind turbine or solar.

Storing the energy is another story. Lithium mining is really really dirty.

Are you interested in having a logical discussion about these issues?

The logic: Putin was waiting until trump's second term so they could work together without worrying about the next election. By then trump would have eliminated the Constitution. He could pass laws like putin is passing.

Trump, Putin, Xi, Jong Un, Duterte and the like could rule the world.

We couldn't build enough nuclear power plants to replace petro in 100 years. And they only last 50 years.

There are learning curves. That we have not jumped overnight to the ideal does not mean we shouldn't start down the path. It is just going to take a hell of a lot longer than the democrats are allowing for in their Doomsday Prophecies to get there.

He probably owes him money. I've suspected that when Trump announced his candidacy in 2015. I don't think we'll ever be able to prove it, though.

The cleanest way to generate electricty is also the most expensive and least efficient. Geothermal power electrolosising water into hydrogen which is stored to be burned as automotive fuel results in zero heavy metals and zero carbon emissions (after the raw materials of the components are refined, of course) or any emissions of anything actually unless the system is failing, and all components of the system (except for the hydrolosis elements, those need to be replaced frequently but can be any metal) will have an effectively unlimited lifespan if properly cared for.

This is how I would do it if money was no object, and those for whom money is no object are the only people right now that could do it this way.

    None of them do tho.

Look at the environmental impact and energy requirements to produce one of these large electric vehicle battery banks, and then realize that they will only last typically 10 years, before having to be replaced with another.

If the lithium in that battery is not going to somehow end up being recycled, then this will just cause additional environmental impact.

And here is where the argument fails. When America catches up with the rest of the modern world electric cars will be greener. At the moment about 20% of Americas electricity is from renewables, therefore electric cars are currently 20% greener than diesel ones.
Those numbers go hand in hand.

Why sacrifice the good for the imperfect?
It is early technology but it has to be cleaner than belching out particulates which affects things from breathing issues to the climate, which in turn affects the environment.

Why didn't Putin invade Ukraine when his ally Trump was in office?

I think the biggest problems with the "Green" movement is panic driven impracticality. Kind of like we discovered a fire on our boat, so quick- lets fill it with water to put the fire out.

The most comprehensive and rational illustration of the entire issue of climate change is a program that follows it from the origins long ago, into the coming future over the next hundred years. It not only explains how this has happened in excellent detail, but how it can be reversed- and none of that includes panic solutions that we see from people like AOC.

The man narrating it and telling the story is David Attenborough, the documentary is "Life on Our Planet". It's on Netflix- but it's something everyone should see. It's entertaining and beautiful as most of Attenborough's work is, but it is incredibly and effectively educational; you will understand the problems and solutions better than you thought possible.

What AOC didn't realize(because she's a nitwit) when she made her "12 years to climate apocalypse!" doomsayer warning, is that she handed us a ticking time bomb with a fuse so short that it was impossible disarm, and any and all attempts to "go green" and diffuse the bomb would just make the countdown clock run faster, and get us to the impending climate disaster sooner.

If climate disaster is really that imminent, then AOC's "green deal" solution is a self-defeating proposition.

No doubt? My belief is this. Trump liked Putin's strength. So did I. But we were both wrong. Putin isn't strong. He is corrupt and brutal. I'm willing to admit I was wrong. Trump never seems to be willing to suggest he was wrong. It is the major weakness of all politicians. Hence, silence on the issue.

Putin didn’t invade Ukraine when Trump was in office.

So there’s that to say for Trump.

I hope the West does now leave the ME alone.

Oh I agree. Think of wvery gas station that would need conversion to power charging stations.

    This conversion would take decades.

But we do have access to virtually zero emissions electricity... but nobody likes nuclear for some reason.

The trick is to use a variety of energy sources. This of course is going to result in acrimony and interstate angst but there is always something to fight over.

modern day EV's are a stepping stone to the future, not perfect by any means

I will stick with gas, but glad there are early adopters
