Facebook pulled a bit of a bait-and-switch, I think that's what has pissed people off the most. If they'd been straightforward from the start that they were leftist, anti-conservative, and pro-censorship, I think a lot less folks would have joined in the first place.

 

I strongly disagree with the idea that there was any general intention to deceive (any more than any private company does at least). They’re not a political organisation and the fact the people running the company (and those like it) might tend to have a general political lean doesn’t make it any kind of manufactured conspiracy. The simple fact is that Facebook was never designed for news or politics, it was designed for casual social connection between groups of friends. It’s use evolved faster than anyone acknowledged and both the company and most users struggled to respond to that development.

I think this particular move is a mixture of a real desire to manage things better alongside a desire to be seen to be trying to do that (again, just like other companies do). The Facebook company is far from perfect and shouldn’t be treated in any way special of different to any other. They essentially do exactly the same things as any other mainstream website that accepts user submissions, including this one. The only difference is that they have a much higher profile and have become a default hate-target for certain people (because some have a psychological need to hate something ). Nothing in any of that justifies calling them “fascist” or indeed “anti-conservative” or “pro-censorship”. That is grossly over-simplistic and entirely unconstructive.

 

Or there are more gays than in previous generations

How does that happen if homosexuality is a birth defect that no one can control?

 

Again, it’s that more gay people are living as themselves.
