Read both, my reply, "Fearmongering sells papers." Both "reports" do nothing but try to add a creepy aire to perfectly normal goings on. The government has accidentally gathered some Americans information, and it's possible it may keep doing so. What I don't see is if that information was ever used for a damn thing. It doesn't say, in either "report", that any convictions or arrests were made due to the gathered data. It doesn't say if anyone was questioned, or if the "illegally" (I use that term lightly) obtained information was used for anything. There's a lot of speculation in those articles that it "could", "possibly", or "maybe" used for some shady things, but I don't see any evidence it actually happened. It looks like the government has fessed up that it happens and according to that article they even get busted when they do it. It must suck to be afraid all the time.

Listening to a phone call in real time is extremely complicated. If it weren't, the police wouldn't be using body wires anymore. They'd just tap into peoples phone's at will. It's not impossible, but it's definitely not cost efficient or anyones first choice. Can they? Can they really? Last I heard they could get some of the information, like metadata. Where it's coming from, where it's sent, maybe the subject line. I doubt they're reading your emails, why would they even want to? If they want to get into an emails body they have to get a warrant. I don't think that's true. I don't know for sure of course but I just don't think it's true. Software can do what you say a billion people listening to calls and reading emails can do. I believe they've been listening and reading with software and have lots of juicy stuff unrelated to terrorism. I am fine with that being what you believe, but reality isn't based on your belief structure. It's based on rock hard facts, and I know there isn't software that can do what you guys are claiming. So believe whatever you'd like, it's your tin foil.
