Some have called Biden's policy to forgive student debts "vote buying". You know what else is "vote buying"? Building roads, creating jobs, reducing crime...

Even roads that you don't use, jobs that you don't have the skills to carry out, criminals that are not in your neighborhood.... Even those, BOTH parties agree that they are a good investment of our tax dollars. Despite the fact that the direct beneficiaries might feel some inclination to vote for the President who procured them for you.

Why not education? Both parties did considered education one of these things not long ago. This was before the leadership of one of those parties was taken over by fascists.

Fascists dread education. If you ever read history books, or hear stories of people who have lived under a fascist regime (Chile, Nicaragua, Argentina... in the past century. Venezuela, N Korea... today) one thing that stands out is the war on education. Education is the number 1 enemy of fascism. Educated people understand when a country is headed towards authoritarianism. The road to fascism is usually through populism. Fascist dictators manipulate their audience by telling them what they want to hear. By throwing them "breadcrumbs" to keep them happy. Ultimately at the expense of their freedom. But often only educated people realize this.

This is why, if you look at history, or you talk to people who live or have lived in these countries, you'll see how the war on education plays out. Ultimately by imprisoning students and teachers, burning books, shutting down universities.

We haven't gone that far in this country. But there is a pattern of fascist behavior by the Republican influencers. And this is one more piece of evidence.

K-12 is NOT enough. Most underdeveloped nations have free K-12. That fact doesn't make them any less underdeveloped. It's higher education that makes a difference. We are the leaders of the world BECAUSE we have more high level education than any other country. It MUST be the government's first priority to keep us as leaders of the world. Because we ALL benefit. Even the uneducated benefit. If we don't, then we will be followers, and no longer leaders. We should not allow this to happen just because some die-hard folk on the right decided to pay attention to fascists like Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity or Breitbart News.

The Socialist apple doesn't fall far from the Fascist tree. That is why the first thing Socialists do when they come to power is confiscate guns from people they consider subjects. They are all about central control, authoritarianism. That's why they believe they have the power to impose such things as vaccine mandates from their perches in Washington, DC.

That Socialism hasn't worked anywhere, ever explains why they have to mandate compliance and destroy people who refuse to comply. Cuban Americans know about the Fascism --- Hillary couldn't overcome Obama playing to Castro. Hugo Chavez knew about fascism ,,, which is why he expressed his shock that an American president was to the left of him.

Do your research. Mussolini was a model Socialist ,,, adopted Fascism because he wanted the power to force his subjects to comply with his misguided MANDATEs. There's that word again.

I'm talking about this phony thread. The definition of FACIST is not "anyone that disagrees with @Golem "
You guys use that word and most of you don't even know what it means

    SAD!

Also, teaching little kids porn is not "EDUCATION". You want education and history? then lets teach it for real and not cherry pick it. Do you find it interesting that most classes that cover slavery conveniently leave out the part of africans selling the slaves in exchange for BOOZE?

A victim mentality seem to be especially susceptible to neo fascist political personalities. That's likely due to a sense of faux but necessary entitlement and is less likely with higher education.

The definition of fascism is here.
    http://www.politicalforum.com/index.php?threads/what-is-fascism.599179/

THIS thread is for people who already understand what fascism is. You, on the other hand, need to go back and study the basics before we can expect you to make any worthwhile contribution to this topic.

And this is specific to neo fascists:
What's the difference between neo fascism and fascism?
"The public presentation of their leaders is one principle difference between the neo-Fascists and historical Fascists: their programs have been "finely honed and 'modernized'" to appeal to the electorate, a "'far-right ideology with a democratic veneer'"."

The Nazi's loved education and many of them were highly educated. You can educate persons to be Facist, Communist, Socialist, Communist, Christian, Muslim, etc.

Conservatives are not against education, per se. But they are against education that turns children into left-wing social activists.

    Welcome to the culture wars.

This has to be one of Golem's silliest threads ever. Nazis developed rocketry and jet engines before the west. It came close to developing an atomic bomb. The USSR exploded the first hydrogen bomb and launched the first man into space. The PRC is deploying a quantum cryptography network.

These accomplishments are not achieved by people who hate education.

    @Golem,...

Don't you think that at some point, so publicly buying votes will be seen for what it is? I mean, the reaction from the nation has been pretty instant here. Mostly negative. All that to ensure that mostly affluent kids will vote for democrats in the future because Biden paid off their student loans?

More, what does it say about Biden? He obviously found that folks had an itch and he scratched it, but he didn't actually stop federally guaranteed loans to kids. Funny how he forgot that part. so, if these loans are soooo onerous, and they are according to democrats, why weren't they outlawed?

Funny thing i that suddenly Universities are taking advantage of this new incentive to take the opportunity to increase the cost of their tuitions. Like Welfare gone wild. And was that actually the outcome Biden et al wanted? More fuel to the fire of inflation?

What does it say then, to those kids that Biden and his administration have called not to go into college programs, but to technical ones, or industries that don't require a masters in stupid psychology? Or gender management studies? Are all those kids left out because they weren't undeplorable enough to benefit from Joe's hand outs?

In your mind, does education just become the bastion of losers who got useless degrees so they have something productive to do in their lives? It really kind of seems that way. I can't tell you how thrilling it is to see public schools tout how many post graduate degrees they have hired in to be kindergarten teachers these days. I mean, its a god send to us parents to know that the person responsible for nap time and cookies and recess spent a couple hundred grand to get that job....

Most Americans support student loan forgiveness, poll finds
    https://thehill.com/changing-americ...-support-student-loan-forgiveness-poll-finds/

    ....................................................................................................................
    Detailed findings:
    1. A narrow majority of Americans support forgiving up to $10,000 in federal student loans, but support wanes for proposals of a larger amount. A wide majority of those with student loans support forgiveness regardless of the amount.

    • A majority (55%) of Americans support forgiving up to $10,000 of a person’s student loan debt.
    • Fewer support forgiving up to $50,000 (47%) in student loans and forgiving all student loan debt (41%).
    • Roughly four in ten Americans support extending the current federal loan pause without forgiving any loan debt (42%) and ending the loan pause now without forgiving any loan debt (41%).
    • A wide majority of those with student loans support each of the three proposals asked about: forgiving $10,000 of student debt (84%), $50,000 of student debt (78%), and all student debt (68%).

It is blatant vote buying. The votes they buy are for the party that is closest to the misused term being used here today.

I did not realize there was a requirement that the person actually graduate to get their loans forgiven.

There is a considerable difference between providing a free education and forgiving loans when other people did not get the benefit of getting their loans forgiven.

Forgiving the loans is closer to fascism because it is taking away money from one group of people and giving it to another group. And in this case, it is being done like a fascist dictator would do, without the approval of the House.
