CEO's have far more responsibility. Picking a bad business plan can affect millions of people, burning someone's fries doesn't.
You're ignoring the basic premise of a market economy - elasticity. Fine, raise the wage to $15. Those workers will enjoy a temporary boost in buying power - until the market corrects, prices go up to accommodate the higher labor costs, and then your unskilled friends at the bottom are right back at the bottom. And they will always be at the bottom unless they obtain a skill that improves the real value of their labor.
What is the point of that question? Are you asserting that a $15 wage would result in a doubling of food prices?
Well I do admit I have a biased motive, I lived in the Chicago area for 38 years and in South Carolina for the past 14 years I know the cost of living and job prospects in both places. With that being said I like the national MW the way it is, so companies move here, they see our MW is $7.25 they think good we will start people of $4~$8 bucks more and those employees will be happy . If the national MW was raised to $10~$15 an hour why would they come here, with our less educated labor force?
First off, this isn’t going to happen. There is no way in hell the CEO’s are going to go with 15/hr. If the mim. wage laws go up, they will just bring on the machines with a small skeleton crew to run it. 2nd Crew member or entry level people don’t deserve 15/hr. 15/hr is 31,000/yr. Enty level is just htat, entry level. Now with that said, I can say that management should be getting 13-15/hr. Because of the skills and responsibility they have.
My wife works as a support manager at MCD. I can't tell you how many people don't show up, or don't do their jobs or comp her attitude. Out of 30 people at her store, about 12-15 of them do it. Its BS and the thing is they don't get fired.
If people have a job that pays poor wages, that possibly means that the job is also not very good and why would you bother about your job performance? If workers aren't valued , why should the quality of their work be valued?
The greedy scum whined liked babies when they had to start paying their workers 25 cents an hour with the first minimum wage.
Flagstaff did the same thing and they had to reduce it because business were leaving left and right due to do it.
The other 75% ish who work there they don't complain, they show up, do their jobs. Also entry level jobs at like MCD, don't pay you a lot, and they shouldn't. you there to learn to work.
Ask yourself if you were an employee, one day you think " great I am making $4 bucks over minimum wage" then you wake up the next morning finding out you are now just making minimum wage ..... Would you be happy? Btw in case you didn't know last I read like 50% of Americans make $15 or less and this includes skill jobs that people went to school for.
So reduce the mini mum wage to 25 cents an hour and you can then cut the salary of the typical CEO to $2,000 per year.
The minimum is actually a racist construct to keep blacks from competing with whites. True story. Edit: Bear made it before me. #Greatmindsthinkalike.
If half of your workforce doesn't care about their jobs, does it say anything about the job, or just the workers?
Last I read only 3% of the work force makes minimum wage , this is more about the people who live in the cities, the ones who make $8~$10 an hour .
