    I can only see the difference between the icons for read threads that I have posted in and read threads that I have not posted in by tilting my screen. Would it be possible to differentiate the icons a bit more?

    I will plan to change that, because it's been requested before. But you may want to check into calibrating your monitor too. I'm not sure that it's possible to be much more different and still be a coordinating medium blue and medium green.

    You can also put your mouse over the stars. If you have posted in the thread, it will say "You have X posts in this thread." If you haven't, it shows a preview snippet of the thread.
