Chris Stevens was in Tripoli NOT Benghazi.. He arrived in Benghazi on Sept 10, 2012 and was briefed by the CIA.. There was NO diplomatic mission in Benghazi.. no consular officers, no Marine guard.

Chris Stevens became Ambassador to Libya in May 2012 in Tripoli... The US Embassy was closed from 2-2011 thru 9-2011 and all personnel was evacuated... Chris Stevens was special envoy to the Transitional Libyan Government in Benghazi .. The US backed the insurgents... and at that time they were pushing to restore the 1952 Libyan Constitution.. which if you have read was enlightened.. Gadaffi dumped it in 1970.
