as you can see from this story--link: https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/f...-guns-and-hate-taxes/ar-AAQF3ma?ocid=msedgntp imo, the north east usually run by liberals are loosing hundreds to thousands of jobs with the fire arms industry moving to better tax, & friendly, less rules, states of the south. given time the manufacturing parts of these companies will be moved also. that means imv, fewer tax dollars, and people in cash strapped liberal run states. what do you think? pro or con. interested in your thoughts. thanks
The article is about two gun manufacturers moving their headquarters out of New York and Massachusetts, to Georgia and Tennessee. The South has a lot friendlier of a business environment than Northeast states. It's not just the tax rates and regulations, but also the environment of the courts with excessive lawsuits. This is also yet another example of how the entire Upstate New York region (which contains part of the Rust Belt) is held under the sway of a much smaller area around New York City, where most of the state's total population is concentrated. The policies pushed by the New York City area are a large part of what has driven deindustrialization in the state's North, and led to the impoverishment and population decline there. Remington's former (or current, before they move) headquarters was in the city of Ilion, which is in the Upstate part of New York, and is actually technically included in maps of the so-called "Rust Belt", at its very eastern-most end.
My thoughts: All those colors are hard on the eyes and you meant "losing", not "loosing" (to untighten).
They're not hard on my eyes, but it's still not a very good put together opening post, and it's obvious he could have spent more time on it. A good opening post shouldn't require you to have to click on the link to know what it's about.
Let's not forget that Remington went bankrupt last year, and their assets were sold off, including the NY plant, which was sold for $13 million. The new owner is setting up shop in Georgia, but also restarted operations in NY.
We need more domestic ammo manufacturing as well. Palmetto State Armory is tooling up to basically make cheap steel case ammo in the commie calibers, but that's still a few years down the road.
sorry, pse, can't expect much better. if there is a spell check here i can't find it. so sorry again.
now, just asking, but how do you get buy the admin. with, quote: Let's go Brandon!!! i don't think i could. no offence to anyone here. thanks.
Who needs taxes when you can just hit up fedgov for everyting you need in an 'infrastructure' bill paid for by printing money? I think they'd prefer to see the firearm manufacturers out of business or better yet owned by the state to only make guns for cops, military, and security professionals employed by the elite... but I'm sure they'll be pleased somewhat by just not having them nearby.
Ran out of cashmo, but I am sure you'll find someone to blame. It was actually their 2nd Chapter-11 in less than 3 years. Remington Gun-Maker Files For Bankruptcy Protection For 2nd Time Since 2018 https://www.npr.org/2020/07/28/8961...bankruptcy-protection-for-2nd-time-since-2018 The Wall Street Journal reported the gun-maker had been in "advanced talks" to sell to the Navajo Nation, but the talks collapsed. According to court filings, Remington estimates it has between 1,000 and 5,000 creditors, and lists both its assets and liabilities as between $100 million and $500 million. Remington's previous bankruptcy filing came two years ago during a period of slumping gun sales. As NPR reported in 2018, firearms industry-watchers were observing a downturn they dubbed a "Trump slump" — a phenomenon in which sales fall dramatically during administrations perceived to be pro-gun. It was also a time when gun safety advocates ratcheted up pressure on retailers and investors to distance themselves from the industry following the 2018 Valentine's Day shooting at a Parkland, Florida, high school in which 17 students and staff were killed. A Supreme Court ruling in 2019 allowed families of those killed in the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, Conn., to move forward with lawsuits against Remington. The families claim the company was liable in victims' deaths as the manufacturer and marketer of the Bushmaster assault-style rifle used in the 2012 massacre that killed six adults and 20 children
Well its true Biden announced Russian ammo importers will not have their importation license renewed but other eastern european ammo manufacturers are stepping up. He may go for a gun ban but I don't think he will have much support, especially considering most of the first time gun buyers are suburban women.
No apologies necessary. I've never looked for spell check here but there is a help menu at the right side of the black bar on the bottom of the page. However, spell check would not have helped because "loosing" is a valid word.
So being in a different state might give them more protection from these frivolous lawsuits. It's like I said in my first post in this thread: "It's not just the tax rates and regulations, but also the environment of the courts with excessive lawsuits." Tesla also announced they were moving out of California soon after a jury awarded a black man $123 million after suffering "racial abuse" in a Tesla factory. It's hard to run a business when you live in a jurisdiction with kangaroo courts and a population that wants to punish businesses as much as possible.
Their quality had been in a nosedive for well over a decade. The 870 became an embarrassment and they even screwed up the model 700. The bluing was so bad it would rust if you blinked at it.
Their HQ was in Alabama, so I am not sure what you are arguing, but I knew you'd find someone to blame. The NY plant was one of the 8 plants they had around the country. If the lawsuits are frivolous, then why did the Supreme Court open the door for them?
I believe they were in North Carolina, and moved to Alabama in 2014, and now they are going to Georgia under new ownership.
