    A tie? A tie???

    Well, there goes competing technologies for Quantum computers.

    We're still early in the Quantum computer age. 5 qubits is like vacuum tubes. Who knows at this point who is going to be top dog in the quantum computer world. The entity who produces the most quantum computers of the future might not even exist yet.

    That is just an average result of both computers winning, and losing.

    I know. One computer is slower but is more accurate, while the other is faster but inaccurate. But neither is 100% so they might have to run their algorithms 2-3 times for error correction. In the end it looks like a trade off speed, or reliability.

    I was referring to the principle of superposition, which is a key component of quantum mechanics. :)

    I was going for a very abstract joke. In quantum mechanics, each computer wins and loses...

    ...we don't know the winner until we check the cat.

    Is there an upper limit to how powerful computers can be, even given this Quantum thing? I saw an article once that looked upon the whole Universe as a computer, would this be it?

    There is an estimated 10[SUP]122[/SUP] to 10[SUP]124[/SUP] bits of information in the universe, so you can't store more than that.

    The fastest a bit can change state is presumably about 5.4 x 10[SUP]-44[/SUP] seconds [the Planck unit of time]

    So in principle I think that establishes the upper bound for computations if the entire universe was made into a computer, or is one.
