Thats my point. Your criminals have plenty of opportunity to shoot up a school. Its not your laws the keep them from doing it. They just dont want to. And I certainly understand why. What I dont understand is why we have criminals that want to shoot up a school. By pretending its because of the guns, we're failing to find and address the real reason(s) why.

Lols! Any excuse……. Nope! You won’t convince an Aussie to swap our mass shooting rate with yours

You've had more mass killings since the gun ban than before.

Now, you're defenseless and murderers can stab people to death, with impunity. What are you going to do to stop it? Outlaw knives? Oh, wait, you already have knife control. A lot of good that did.

Then why aren’t they? So let’s look at you basic premise here - that it is “criminals” doing the shooting in schools Was the six year old that shot his teacher a “criminal”?

Now in contrast we had ONE school shooting (no one hurt) in 2023 https://www.bbc.com/news/world-australia-68432923

No we haven’t - look at the stats again you might be able to argue that there were more mass shootings (but even then you would be losing since Australia’s population has grown significantly since 1996) but there has not been more mass killings. In fact there have been wayyy fewer killings

You had more school shootings since the gun ban than you had before the gun ban.

You put it out there that you would not go to a GOP convention if you couldn’t take a gun. Sorry if that math is hard

I'm talking about mass killings. The weapon used is irrelevant.

Your school shooting rate increased 100% since the gun ban.

We need to find that out. Research costs money of course, so we need to fund the research. I would suggest starting with the $10M the state of WA spends tracking gun sales every year, because since we started wasting money on that, murders-by-shooting have doubled along with the rest of the nation, so clearly that money is being wasted and would be better spent on something else.

Well yes. Bringing a gun to school is a crime regardless of the age of the offender. Of course 6 year olds don't really know what they're doing, so putting the kid in jail would be ridiculous. But he engaged in crime, so he was a criminal. Assuming you have a different record system for minors like we do, he won't be a criminal for life.

But the point remains, people who shoot up schools are criminals just like the drug dealers shooting up your streets are criminals. The only difference is the people their shooting at and the reasons why they're shooting at them. Despite your strict gun laws, drug dealing criminals are still shooting up your streets. Why are your criminals not shooting up schools, but ours are? Thats seems like a question worth answering...

That's good. But clearly your gun laws didn't prevent it from happening. No reason to think they would prevent ours either.

Yes I am talking mass killings not shootings. You have used Wiki before to try and “prove” your point (which fails even at a minimal application of statistics). Wiki lists people shot not deceased. If you use the FBi criteria for mass shooting (more than four dead and not a family suicide) we have had ONE mass shooting since 1996

You all change the standard when it suits you...lol

That's why your anti-gun argument fall flat, everytime.

You've had 24+ mass shootings since the gun ban.

Oh, so the school shooting numbers before and since the gun ban went unchanged? A lot of good the gun ban did...lol

But were they “criminals” before they brought the gun to school?

No I am using statistics - sorry if that is an issue. So far, just in this thread you have failed to “prove” your “point” multiple times. Firstly in claiming that the mass killing rate had risen ( it hasn’t) secondly in factoring in the population rise over fifty plus years you are using as a reference and conflating overall shootings with school shootings

You are the one who has failed to prove we have had any school shootings that have resulted in even one person being shot since 1991. You are claiming “success” based on an erroneous perception of the facts

Your repetitive questions and irrelevant images suggest you're not really here to debate but more just advertise your opinion...

No criminal was a criminal before they committed a crime (obviously...). Not in the US at least. Crime and criminal are legal terms with objective meanings.

    Why is America different?
It could be that we have poor (or nonexistent) mental health care.
    It could be cultural degradation.
It could be the proliferation of dangerous and/or unneccessary pharmaceuticals our corporatist economy has allowed to capture our regulators.
Or it could be all of the above.

If I were a betting man, I'd put all my money on 'all of the above.' Hell, I put all my money on it even not being a betting man. But to determine anything, we'll first need an honest investigation into the question we've both been asking- why do armed American criminals shoot up schools when armed criminals in other nations don't?

    You would rather be stabbed?

Register knives now and inky allow dull ones?
