Your rights are already absolute, but they don't include being armed with a tank, bazooka, and sarin gas. You can be restricted from carrying assault rifles into the Superbowl or a courtroom.

 

School? Perhaps. Bus stop? Of course not.

I taught high school and adults for years and I can assure you the vast majority of teachers would have nothing to do with carrying firearms into a school. Many would quit rather than carry a weapon. We're already making the job less attractive by making schools a dangerous place. It has been a problem in inner city schools for decades.

Securing schools is the cost of doing business for having our gun laws. Time to pay up.

Given that the school already had armed guards I don't think that matters. They can't be everywhere. I am not sure what would help. There is not going to be significant increases in gun regulation in the US and even if there was there are too many guns and the US state lacks the capacity to enforce them. Many drugs are illegal in the US. Does anyone think you can't get them if you want?

The real question is why are such attacks increasing even as the level of violence in the US is declining (its declining I believe for demographic reasons, the same reason it increased in the sixties. Young males commit most gun violence, and the percent of young males is declining).

 

Anyone in Canada who wants a handgun can obtain one easily. Ditto the rest of the world.

 

And yet Sarin gas was used to conduct a mass slaughter in Japan.
Did the Japanese government forget to ban Sarin?

We can issue permits to carry weapons that we specifically deny to felons, gang members, senile seniors, children, and the mentally ill. We can make the penalties nasty for people possessing without a permit. We can limit the permits to people who show basic competence with firearms. Older children can have permits limited to rural areas.

They could have interviewed him, taken his weapons, had him analyzed, and somehow removed from the streets. The guy made public threats against school children so it seems possible he has broken laws somewhere.

 

Perhaps they would have had other sarin attacks if possessing Sarin was legal?

I have great doubts they could have done so in Florida. He had broken no law and he could simply have claimed he was joking if they brought the threats forward. I am not sure, before any attack took place, that any Florida judge would have ordered him to lose his rights. The right to have a gun is taken very seriously here and I don't know if he met the requirements for losing your right to bear arms.

Even if they could have, and I doubt it, they lack the manpower to do this generally and resistance to a federal agency taking someone's arms away would be very high.

 

Not true. Almost impossible to get one here. You'd have to be pretty high up in the criminal underworld to know a gun smuggler.

Outside of being strapped to a policeman, I don't even think I've seen one in this country.

Guns, like drugs, alcohol, human beings, and every other kid of contraband can be easily smuggled over borders.

I’d only cut her slack if she blamed Democrats and Obama first. Aiming at Trump just makes her another future clueless leftist always interested in forcing others to live how she feels fit.

She should have condemned EVERY politician because it takes them, NOT Trump to create a bill.
