We should all pay less attention to what Trump says and more attention to what this administration does.

While we're distracted by the pandemic, Trump is busy firing the only watchdogs we have who dare to investigate the wrongdoing of him or his people. He's also busy finding ways to screw over some of the very people we depend upon to help us through this.

Whether or not Trump personally approved this petty maneuver is irrelevant. It's yet another ridiculously mean and low policy of his administration. It's the Trumpian way of saying "Thank you ... now f**k off."

Let's see how you Trump supporters justify this.

It is not unusual to have a TDY or activation of duty period cutoff of less than 180 days for Nasty Guardsmen and women..

I thought the order for the National Guard was supposed to expire at the end of this month. (May 31st.)

What’s the problem? There’s an order in place that may or may not be extended

Part of managing a crisis is managing the cost. This is no different than pulling/replacing manpower before they go into overtime pay- a practice usually considered wise.

Whats needed to demonstrate/support this story's narrative is an explanation of how these duties warranted the increased cost of the benefits that were about to kick in. Without such an explanation, this is just a hit piece trying to twist the Trump Administration's attempts to be responsible with its resources into 'abuse of the military'...

To quote the fictional 'Richard Nixon's Head' from Futurama- "This had better work! We can't spend all of Earths money every day, you know!"

Because they will require at least 14 days of isolation, that's about right. They'll start rotating out right about then. It was planned that way in order to keep them from gaining a few paltry benefits for their vital and necessary services.

And who is going to pick up that slack? With so many businesses opening back up, and people being the morons that so many are, we should expect another surge in contagion, hospitalizations, and death. This is not a good time to reduce our front line.

It is petty and short-sighted. Typical Trumpism.

Which is more important: money or lives? We can rebuild our economy, we've done it before, but the dead are dead forever.

If 90,000 dead Americans (and rising) doesn't warrant pulling out all the stops and focusing resources, what does? How many dead Americans does it take? Is saving lives just not practical?

We have other guardsmen that can be deployed if need be.

Geez...it's a current Order, it can expire, or be extended. This is more faux outrage

It would be helpful if you would explain what you're talking about.

All I got was National Guard/OrangeManBad.

They will still have earned 89 days of additional credit toward their retirement benefits.

The economy isn't 'money.' The economy is access to goods and services, like food and medicine, which are both integral to avoiding infection.

This false dichotomy of sacrificing the economy to the virus or sacrificing people to the virus is a failed premise. Protecting peoples access to the goods they need to stay healthy, aka the economy, is just as important as protecting them from the virus. Since we can't do both 100%, a balance must be sought.

Deflection, the last bastion of Trump supporters who can't defend their hero's abhorrent policies. Try reading the article. Or better still, look it up for yourself.

Can you defend the Trump administration from this blatant attempt to cheat 40,000 National Guards? If not, please don't bother to reply with inanities. Lashing out at the messenger is lame.

It was extended to June 24...one day short of the 90 day deployment that would trigger additional benefits for the National Guard guys doing this work for us.

Trump screwed em...and us by pulling them

You seem to know a lot about the Guard and the National Guard Bureau. I'm curious, what unit are you currently in? When you were activated, what did your Orders state?

I wasn't saying anything. I asked a question. Specifically, in the Title Orders. What did the Order state?

Not sure why you're chiming in if you don't know the answer lol

    Trump being Trump.

A modern variation on Trump's habit of stiffing contractors.

I didn't mention any dispute. I asked what your Orders stated.

It's a very simple question. I know the answer to this because I received them. What state are you serving in?

I don't know too many who are paying attention to what he says - really, that's just for sh!ts and giggles. Even many right leaners here at PF admit that they don't like his speaking manner or content. Have no fear - the vast majority are watching his actions and they are as transparent as could be. This is just another example of who he really is.

We are used to it. We had to suffer through Obama's Iraq surge, missing pay checks, and unit closures. Now we've increased mission readiness and the expansion of the military.

Describe what you would call balance, please. What would you do if you were in charge?

US military personnel should be treated with respect and compensated fully and fairly for their service.

    anything else is a disgrace

I agree with you 100%. I felt that way in 2011 when my wife (girlfriend at the time) and I didn't receive any money for almost 4 months.
