The moderation of posts lasts for about your first 10 posts only - after that your posts will appear instantly (although there is a time limit on editing them). During that initial period, we will try to release them as quickly as we can, but it does depend on the availability of online staff, so may not be instant.

You'll be observed by mods for the first ten posts.
Click on a forum (depending on subject), then, on upper left click on
    'start a new thread'
Just read the forum rules for requirements first.;)

Hello Forum........... Let me introduce myself and also begin my required monitored 10 post minimum requirement............

I am what I consider to be a Republitarian........ no doubt others would have a different opinion.

I subscribe to many of Teddy Roosevelts early principals and admire his historical contributions as well as many of his ideological beliefs such as the below quote:

If an American is to amount to anything he must rely upon himself, and not upon the State; he must take pride in his own work, instead of sitting idle to envy the luck of others; he must face life with resolute courage, win victory if he can and accept defeat if he must, without seeking to place on his fellow-men a responsibility which is not theirs.- T.R. 1897

Anyhow.........just a short hello and announcement.

It says my post has to be approved by a moderator. Do moderators approve of every post made on this forum?

Go to the PoliticalForum profile page where you can select from the the pulldown menu to Send a Private Message to PoliticalForum.

    http://www.politicalforum.com/members/politicalforum.html

Of note while the site owner does read all PM's that doesn't ensure a reply. Most PM's relate to the normal operation of the site which is left to the staff members (moderators and advisor) and if the PM relates to such issues then those comments are often referred to us. The site owner generally has a "hands off" approach to the actual operation of Political Forum being more concerned with how the software is working and addressing adminstrative actions that the staff does not have authority to deal with.

You are a moderator and don't know? When you become a mod isn't there some kind of orientation or something? Personally I think mods should be paid a stipend or get a goodie or something! I have only been asked to be a moderator two times in eight years, but declined when I found out no pay or bennies came with the offer~ It's a difficiult nearly thankless job, thanks for doing it daisydotell and the other mods..

I would like to know how to change a thread or a reply after the 20 min limit expires. When I try to access the adminstrator hyperlink I get a 404 error message, whats up with that? Its been that way for months! I would like to see the 20 min limit extended to an hour or more or completely eliminated, its not useful at all.

Just PM a mod and send along a link with the post or thread in question.

I don't think it should be eliminated.
People can and will go back and change or eliminate posts for unethical reasons.

Yes. Esp when people are accused of altering a quoted text, or are accused of lying about a post.
Time limit must stand. Certainly the mods/advisors will accommodate if a good reason is given.

Well the limit is fine for those that post one or two paragraphs. However I am a preacher! I talk a LOT. I produce a lot of font, because of difficult subjects. Most of my replies are a few thousand words. No other site save than this one has such a short time limit. If we must have a limit an hour would be more appro. If anyone was really interested in someone going back and changing their thread or reply it would be simple to record all original replies and threads save them for two days, and not allow a deviation. Or simply raise the time limit to an hour. I know I am probably the only person that has a problem with the time limit, and its my responsibility to edit the things before posting them. However I just can not seem to see the glaring mistakes sometimes until I reread them after the 20 min limit.

Lastly, where are the hyperlinks to the moderators or the administrator for that matter. As I said the link has been broken of at least 6 or 7 months for the Admin. Don’t get me wrong I think the Mods are the best in the field. And I like the site and how its set up hence my donation and the forth coming one on the 5th of this month.

Now why don't you bump a post I made over 2 + years ago?:-D I was a new member of only a few days. [IMG] 04-16-2009, 07:34 PM . I joined a few days before I made the post.:omg: We do get training from other Moderators and Advisors. Believe it or not some of the best trainers are the posters.

I can't do that there is a 20 min time limit!

I am sorry if you took my remark personally, I didn't see the post date, and I did slather on praise for moderators in every other word. Lastly, whats up with the broken link when the dumb 20 min time limit expires? If you hit the hyperlink (that is supposed to give you the admin PM) we get a 404 instead. It would be a simple task to remove or fix the link.

Yes we will but some advice on this. First of all if a member notifies a moderator about a post they made that they need changed please provide the permalink to the post. We really don't have the time to search for the post and are often confused as to which post is being referenced. Post numbers and a link to the thread sometimes work but if a prior post is deleted by the moderators then the post numbers change.

Also do so in a timely manner. If someone else quoted the post then it becomes very problematic to change the original post.

And yes, provide a good reason for the change. I know I've made posts that I had to change because of a typo that completely changed what I was attempting to state. We have no problem making a change when this happens so long as it's done in a timely manner.

Yes, all of the staff mentor new members to the staff and we can call that training. We also learn a lot from other members both from the Suggestion Box and by PM's we receive. Not to leave one important item out we also learn from our mistakes. We do make mistakes sometimes and those are addressed by members and staff alike. I've had to "eat crow" more than once in the past and probably will again in the future.

How long before our posts show up? Is it a number of posts or a time frame? If it is a time frame I'll just wait it out and come back. Please understand, I totally get the trolls and spam but I know I am not either and it's hard to follow a thread I am posting in when my own words don't show up.

    Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!
