They won't be refugees (or immigrants, or course) -- they are simply relocating from a US Commonwealth to another location on the US mainland.

Not much of that left there, doubtful the U.S. is going to evac them! But it's no more, in fact, less of a challenge to raft the currents to Cuba as the Cubans raft to Florida ;)

Granny's net worth is around 45 mil and her hubby is right at 80 mil I'm sure being the real generous Democrats they are donating 80 or the 45 shouldn't change their lives all that much :)

Any bets they demand taxpayer money and don't part with theirs ;)

You only see 5 days ahead of you or something? Weird.

Ships and planes will be there in a bit -- and plenty of these US citizens have the money to make it here, and / or tens if not hundreds of thousands of relatives in the US can help arrange to get them to the continental US.

It seems some conservatives not only have the worst of memories -- they can't see passed a week.

Sure they do, they don't pay any federal tax's :) I don't even want to think of how much more I'd have in savings if I'd never had to pay any federal tax! But, as long as they have the money to fly over that's fine by me, but I assure you they better have a good amount cuz they ain't gonna be in Kansas anymore ;)

Not only were you proven earlier your statement "they don't pay any federal tax's" is not true -- you are broadbrushing and degrading 3.4 million US Citizens as total ducks and poor ****s.

His father is Puerto Rican, he spent years helping PR's as an attorney -- and he's down there helping now. What the heck is wrong with you?

Have you ever been to Puerto Rico? It's not exactly a real cheap place to live. As Trump seemed surprised to find out; "It's an Island". It's big enough to be self-sufficient but it's a lot like Hawaii, most things beyond the real basics, (and even some of them because it's cheaper to grow pineapples than make your own drywall frex) have to be shipped in.

    I DID.

    Three times.

    You ignored it.

For the BB's short attention span, again.

You SAID: "they don't pay any federal tax's"

Numerous time you have been informed many do:
"Though the Commonwealth government has its own tax laws, Puerto Ricans are also required to pay most US federal taxes,[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8]
...In 2009, Puerto Rico paid $3.742 billion into the US Treasury.[10]"

    ===============

"In 1917, the U.S. Congress passed the Jones–Shafroth Act, which grants U.S. citizenship to anyone born on the island.

As U.S. citizens, Puerto Ricans can freely travel and move to the U.S. mainland without a passport or a visa. For Puerto Ricans, traveling to the mainland is the same as a New Yorker crossing into New Jersey or flying to Hawaii.

Thousands of Puerto Ricans have taken advantage of that in recent years as the island's finances have crumbled. From 2006 to 2015, about 445,000 left the island for the mainland, more than 10% of the island's population, according to the Puerto Rico Statistics Institute. Most of them live in New York, Florida, and New Jersey.

As citizens, Puerto Ricans can also volunteer to serve, or be drafted into, the military. About 18,000 Puerto Ricans served in World War I, 65,000 in World War II, 61,000 in the Korean War, and 48,000 in Vietnam, according to Puerto Rico's former governor Luis Fortuño.

Puerto Ricans get some, but not all, federal benefits
As U.S. citizens, Puerto Ricans receive many of the same financial benefits, and liabilities, of their mainland counterparts. They pay most federal taxes, including payroll, Social Security and Medicare taxes. But they do not pay federal personal income taxes.

Puerto Ricans receive many, but not all, federal benefits. For example, the federal government matches 100% of Medicaid funding for people living in the 50 states and the District of Columbia, but matches only 57.2% of Medicaid expenditures for residents of Puerto Rico. Congress has also capped annual Medicaid spending in Puerto Rico."

If you don't give ALL your money to help the poor then conservatives think you have no business criticizing them for spending most of their time bitching about being asked to give even a small percentage they would never miss. They love to go on about how the rich give more than the poor while missing the blindingly obvious fact that the poor are poor because they don't have anything to give.

No, I said the cost-of-living is higher there, so living here will not, at least, cost them more than living at home would have, which was what the first post seemed to be saying. Jeebus, do you misinterpret and twist EVERYTHING people say? but wait, you ARE conservative, so why am I even asking that?

"LMFAO we bail them out and they pay what exactly lolol"

And they bailed out Trump -- who defaulted on his loan and left 33 million buckaroos for the PR's to absorb.

    Nice going, Orangina.

So they're paying taxes? How does that mean they don't have a somewhat higher COL than the mainland?

Whats quite pathetic was anyone believing that BS by Lamothe.

    • Six commercial barges transported and delivered meals, water, generators, cots, and other commodities to Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

    • An air bridge is established, flying three flights per day to St. Croix, each carrying approximately 33,000 meals.

    • The logistics support ship SS Wright arrived carrying more than 1.1 million meals, and nearly one million liters of freshwater.

    • Two shipping barges with 1.2 million liters of water, 31 generators, and more than 6,000 cots arrived in St. Thomas.

    • Two additional shipping barges loaded with food, water, and emergency relief supplies are en route to the Caribbean Sea from Florida.

    • Millions of additional meals are being flown to Puerto Rico from staging areas in Kentucky and Florida.

. The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) is transporting a shipment of 124,000 gallons of diesel fuel to Puerto Rico, with arrival in the coming days.

It may not be obvious to the media, but one of the difficulties in getting supplies to Puerto Rico is that it's an island 1200+ nautical miles from Miami, the closest major U.S. port.

Clearing the ports takes time, and getting supplies for 3.4 million people by plane into devastated airports isn't a real option.

Stars and Stripes reports that the Defense Department has already sent 2,600 personnel to Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands to assist in recovery.

The 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) and Expeditionary Strike Group 2, as well as the USS Wasp, USS Oak Hill, USS Iwo Jima and USS New York, have all participated in recovery operations so far.....snip~

    https://pjmedia.com/trending/2017/0...media-attacks-trumps-response-hurricane-irma/

Funny thing about leftists.....they will bring back around some **** that was already debunked. Thinking that a new headline will change reality. Still haven't figured out.....it don't work like that,
