The NRA is an advocate for the firearms rights of law abiding citizens. Republicans share that. Democrats do not.

Six states plus DC already have gun regulation so I don’t believe a registration alone is unconstitutional. With the way popular opinion is heading we will likely see politicians becoming more vocal on the issue.

You mean something along the line of universal background check??? Probably won't happen though since fancy pants LaPierre is layin' down the law.

What the hell is "the left" in this context? How about something substantive and the least bit specific? Also, the NRA got political all by itself long, LONG ago as it grew.

And? That have absolutely zero to do with your accusation. The NRA, on its own volition, decided to be politically involved. By far they are one of the biggest lobbyist group.

The NRA supports candidates who advocate for the self defense rights of law abiding citizens.

There aren't background checks from person A they happen when a dealer sells a fire arm because that is enforceable. A FFL can have their license revoked plus they keep track of their fire arms.

If some person sells their gun to someone else how will you know? How will you enforce a background check?

Especially against the will of the majority.

So it is to punish otherwise law abiding citizens.

Yeah that's what I'm against. Punishing gun owners for gun owners is partisan crap.

Murderers and criminals don't care about penalties so it isn't about that.

    That's exactly what it's for.

No. Not registering your fire arm doesn't make violence happen. Don't be ridiculous.

Fabricating useless laws to the punish people for not following is absolutely an attempt to harass people

Yeah with two thirds Congress and two thirds of the states agreeing.

It absolutely is partisan. You want to make all these laws that have no effect on crime to make criminals out of otherwise law abiding citizens. That's as partisan as it gets.
Than you don't have much common sense. It is specifically designed to make it more difficult to exercise your rights.
that person has more sense than you.

A registration will have no effect on crime what so ever. It will be used as a bludgeoned to harass otherwise law abiding citizens.

You haven't made a case for it other than to punish someone who was a victim of a crime.

Background checks and registrations as well as insurance will have no effect on it. All that will do is discourage law abiding citizens from owning guns.

You have to use common sense. If you were going to use a gun to murder people would you register that gun? If you had a criminal background would you buy from someone who performs background checks?

This isn't criminal control it's citizen control and it's asinine.

Simple. No more private sales. Do you want to unwillingly sell your firearm to some unknown nut that may commit crime down the line?

The NRA is concerned that the rights of law abiding citizens would be infringed upon. And there is nothing wrong with that. None of the proposed background checks would have prevented these mass shootings. Identifying unstable individuals and mandating psychiatric evaluation would have prevented some of them.

Yeah people will do it anyway and you have no way of knowing.

If I do how will you know I ever owned it?

The NRA advocates for the self defense rights of law abiding citizens. And they are the global leader in gun safety training.

The NRA is politicised by anti Constitution politicians. It's not their fault that such people tend to be Democrats.

Well....if your gun were recorded as being sold to you, and it is used later in a commission of a crime and somebody is dead, you would be charged with murder.

    Gun registration law.

Conservatives love to rid of swamp rat lobbyists except when those lobbyists are for their causes. Hypocrisy duly noted.

Exactly. The charter of the NRA hasn’t changed. It’s the progressive Democrats that have.

    someone stole it.

There is no gun registration law. And if there was and somebody didn't register their gun the government wouldn't even know it existed.
