Reagan inherited a strong economy? High unemployment, inflation that required 18-20% interest rates to keep it under control, and a gas-lines snaking around several city blocks?

The revisionism that progressive socialists engage in never ceases to amaze.

What false claim? Romney was taxed on his income, invested it, and is now taxed on his earnings. What's false about that?

Quarter - Real GDP % change annualized rate
    1980q4 7.4%
    1981q1 8.3%

The ignorance of class warfare reactionaries never ceases to amaze.

was he? or was he given a compensation and allowed to have it taxes as capital gains opposed to earnings?

A loophole in the tax laws allows private-equity managers like Romney to treat their compensation as capital gains. It’s legal but it’s a scandal. Income from employment is employment income, period.

Private-equity managers cling to the technicality that the money they take out of their companies comes from the appreciation of assets they own and sell. That may be true, but it’s still income they get from their jobs. Common sense would dictate it be treated as ordinary income.

The stagflation that occurred under Carter led to high unemployment and a severe recession in the early 1980's. It's very telling you would cherry pick a couple of quarters to support your ridiculous claim that Carter handed off a strong economy to Reagan.

I thought libs gave up defending Carter? I guess not.

What evidence do you have that Romney used this loophole?

I'm fine with closing loop-holes. One of the GOP platforms this year was to throw out the current tax code and make it simpler. Liberals didn't like that idea, mainly because it was coming from conservatives.

guess he could release his tax returns and show everyone if hes too stupid to do his taxes, or if he exploits loopholes at the expense of people who work.

Reagan turned the Carter Staglation around in stunning fashion and would have even
more if not for that Pesky Dem controlled House.
Reagan lowered Capital gains with his 1981 tax cut from 25% to 20% and
was scheduled to go to 17.5% with his 1985 proposal but it got voted down.
But reagan couldn't win the legislative battle and had to settle for raising
capital gains rates so he could LOWER Marginal Income tax rates.

Unlike those who truly " Exploit " which is around 5o% of those who pay
    NO FEDERAL INCOME TAX.
    Explain how that is fair.

ever hear of the misery index?

    http://www.miseryindex.us/indexbyyear.aspx

Obama came into office with a misery index of 8.94 in 2011 it was 12.11... hint lower is better

any gains Obama has made on unemployment have been more than offset by inflation

I'm sure the economy is improving, but don't simply say the numbers are better so we should thank Obama. It's a classic Post-Hoc fallacy (A occurred before B,therefore A caused B). If you want to wave those numbers around actually specify what Obama did to make them go down.
