You've hardly taken part to direct the thread so you've nothing to complain about...and royal ancestry/dna is very relevant to op...

As to reputable companies choices should be made depending on individual requirements...if someone is looking at ancestry Dna stay away from any company that makes claims of links to long dead historical figures...

Well I do not know how Harry and the Royal Family fall outside the bounds of the thread title.
A genome workup of Charles and Harry could put the rumors to rest, or confirm Harry is not of Charles.

Longknife - what would you like to discuss?
Have you had experience with genetic testing and ancestry?
    I have.
And it is not firmly established. 23andMe updates my ancestry three times of year.
The critics should NOT be allowed to shut down a "recreational service" like astrology.
As long as the customers agrees this is a developing science and a "recreational service".

if we were only to discuss National Geographic DNA testing site as mentioned in the op then this thread is already dead as it's been covered in the first few posts...so your tangent on royalty was a valid addition to the thread...

Relating your experiences with a DNA service is exactly what I'd like to discuss. It's not an urgent matter but, someday when I have the $$$, I'd like to have a test done.

all future college students should have a genetic race test done, it just might save you a tone of money and get you more grants to boot

I hesitated for a few years due to the price but I finally did it....now I'm glad I did, it identified both parental lines...not surprisingly I'm 44% northern european...34% Mediterranean that was a bit more than I expected....20% southwest asia! Never saw that coming...then the shocker 2% Oceanian, wth!...blonde blue eyed northern euro me has a male polynesian ancestor!..somewhere 200-300yrs ago a sailor from northern europe had a son with a woman in Oceania...

Then there was the confirmation of neanderthal ancestry 1.9% and what I didnt think was possible an estimated 1.3% Denisovan as well... Denisovan dna today is found in oceania so maybe it makes sense...

Steep price but I'm satisfied I got good value...
