So, you want to the government to control where energy companies get their supply? Wouldn't that be a command economy? Where does it stop? Food, clothes, medicine, computer chips? Which ones should the government regulate to be made in the US only, to become "independent" of the rest of the world?

The US government of the past DID regulate where stuff was made. There was a time when it tariffed the crap out of stuff made overseas (exactly like China does). It was that policy that allowed America to eat Europe's lunch and reach super power status. China is currently eating the globes lunch using the same policy. They are more self sufficient than America and the gap grows every year.

You will note that the absolute zenith of American power and the American middle class ended at about the same time America dropped the protectionist policies. It is hard to imagine a time where one guy working as a mechanic could raise 6 children in a middle class home with a wife who was a homemaker. That time existed and evaporated. Our new reality has devolved into a working mom and dad taking on astronomical debt to raise 1 or 2 kids.

As China flexes its muscles and as its goals increasingly diverge from America's goals and it begins to take over spheres of influence that once were owned by America..... when it begins to eviscerate American manufacturers with it's own...... when America's very existence is threatened by its complete reliance on a hostile nation.... perhaps then American elites will stop looking for the cheap and easy buck and start investing in America's infrastructure (this is what the elites of the past did heavily). Chinese elites have much more in common with America's past elites than America's current elites do. American elites of the past may have been just as bent as today's elites but they were also far wiser and had long term plans meant to sustain their country's power. Our current elites appear to want to bleed out America for their own profit.

China's current trajectory has it outright surpassing the US in GDP pre capita within 20 years. That would give it an economy nearly three times as large as ours with a much larger middle class, none of the internal divisions and self-sufficient (using Russia/Africa/South America for raw materials). They would definitely challenge the notion of diversity as a strength as China is a Han ethnostate. They believe the West is committing suicide and are happy to take the West's power/resources for themselves. When your enemy owns Tik-Tok which promote transgenderism, climate activism, diversity and homosexuality while they ban such concepts in their own country, it is readily apparent that Chinese leaders see those concepts as damaging. What if they are right?

Americans can still maintain a lifestyle of one bread winner with 6 kids these days. Buy a 800 sq ft home, one 8 year old car, sign up for your one home phone with a phone number shared by your neighbors. Buy a tent, load the kids in your beater and go to a park for a weekend for summer vacation. Buy a used TV on craiglist for your home entertainment. I was there. Live it up!

No, I want the government to promote more avenues/revenues for energy supply. When the discussion came up relative to the 2012 elections, I essentially agreed with Obama that we should tap into all forms of energy available. My point is, 7% production is WAY too small hence making us reliant on Russia.

Or when Sen. Rubio points out how dependent we are on China for medical supplies(coming off the coronavirus). It's all because we are devout to the "INTL Community" but what no one seems to understand is our ability to be devout is intimately tied to our ability to be able to do so.

If the US sacrifices itself for the INTL community, there will come a time when it can no longer do so. But the INTL community will drain it dry. This is what's happening now in the European Crisis. This is why the movement is not and never will be tied to Trump, it's tied to a simple fact: Only a prominent US can be a strong US. Only a strong Europe can secure peace in Europe. Our servitude to the INTL community serves no one, but least of all us.

I want the INTL community to prosper, but the only way it prospers is if we come ahead. The only way it prospers is through a strong and independent Asia to Europe and the Eurasian regions.

Our weakened allies are finding that out now, as they "stand together" but are unable to achieve aims.

Do we both live in the United States? My perception is that we have become households with two 'bread-winners' (of
indeterminate gender), and maybe only one kid, which was probably spawned by one of these two 'bread-winners' in a prior marriage that ended in divorce. These two 'bread-winners' rent because they can't afford to buy a house -- but at least one of them drives a fairly late-model vehicle, which was purchased on a 72-month plan.... .They don't take vacations; and that one kid eats free, all day and night and on weekends at public expense at the 'school'. They're on 'Obamacare', they shop at Goodwill, they're on as many government welfare handouts as they can get, and they always (ALWAYS) vote Democrat, every chance they get....

In other words, in both Germany and the United States, meet the "Proles", as described in Orwell's masterpiece, "1984". 8)
