germany will use its army more in foreign conflicts

The fact is the only country which can "save" Europe is the US. With Britain Europe can have a balance, but it can't have peace or be saved from wars. It isn't because the US is all powerful, it is more because the European countries know the US can't invade Europe and they can't invade the US. So Germany is safe from Polish, Russians, French and British agression. The French can't stand this, they know they should be the European superpower, they really can't stand the Anglo domination of Europe that has been in force for 200 years. So the French are less friendly with the Americans and started the EU for their own geopolitical purposes. Only for it to be hijacked by the Germans and move from a geopolitical tool, to an economic tool. Currently the main country losing out in the EU from German domination is Poland, they look great however they are being tied back so much by German created regulations and other EU policies. However I think Poland will one day be the major European economic force with the right support from the US which wants a block to a possible German-Russian alliance. That is what George Friedman of stratfor and many others think.

Britain for the most part is geographically perfect. It has great strategic depth, furtile land, natural resources and more ports and shipyards than the rest of European combined. Only the US could out do Britain in terms of trade and shipbuilding. However Britain is very hard to control for a central government, so it can't do minority rights or equality. A major mistake was the limiting of the Church of Ireland and then disestablishment. Britain could dominate the Mediterranean, North sea and Atlantic again, in doing so it has power over all European countries, which is why the EU is such a threat to Britain and why the US supports the EU. Nobody wants Britain to be stable, free and powerful, least of all the Germans.

I was responding in regards to the European armies.
There's little doubt that US hardware is a considerable military force.

Well most modern armies aren't really meant to occupy and conquer other nations and there aren't orientated that way.

I would surprised if German and Russia went towards an informal or even formal alliance because I think that they still leery because of the cold war.

Well we do have an awful lot of underused resources but I'm surprised that we have that many ports and shipyards.

It's actually quite interesting to look at how stats compare when it comes to export leaders but it's clear that Britain still punches above it's weight

When it comes to rights in our country I don't think that having the EU tell us how to go about it is really going to work.
We have our own way of doing things.

Well that sounds like a return to a position at the turn of the century.
I think that times have moved on for that to be realistic any more and power takes form in several different ways.
