The rise is 5.6 degrees in the arctic this year. It may just be a temporary rise but your numbers are off. And a 2.5 degree rise in the northern hemisphere.

    Your statement was:

There is nothing in that article from Slate (you really get your climate information from Slate ??) to indicate that the average temperature is up that amount. And why the 1950 - 1980 baseline ?? Could it be that was chosen due to the global cooling interval contained within that range ?? How to lie with statistics 101.

I have seen them. I repeat: no actual empirical demonstration of extreme effects of CO2 on weather patterns. Quite the contrary: the lack of such demonstrations despite the massive resources devoted to their discovery argues strongly that they do not exist.

What, do you think, an "empirical demonstration" of this would look like?

A consistent positive correlation of measured physical weather intensity to atmospheric CO2.

It is the rise in temps. that affect weather patterns. CO2 is a forcing. Everybody should know that.

El Niño's are a (*)(*)(*)(*)(*) aren't they? No El Niño this year. Do you know what warms the oceans?

The earth is still 1.24 degrees above average
Do you always repeat dumb questions?

Average base on what ?? We are actually cooler than the MWP.

Were you there? I need real world measurements done by scientists at the time. Don't give me a bunch of tree rings. Lol

No I wasn't there. But as you should know there are ~ 2000 scientific papers on the MWP and LIA documenting the temperature trends.

I can claim conspiracy funded by the Koch brothers and fossil fuel companies. There are thousands of papers on AGW too. My conspiracy theory is no different than yours.

Do your homework as I have. The evidence concerning the MWP and LIA is clear. Mann conspired to get rid of the MWP using the bogus data of the hockey stick but was exposed to be a fraud.

The claims concerning the Koch brothers are laughable and don't make any sense. The oil companies benefit from the policies which force the demise of the coal industry for no good reason save the expansion of BIG GOV.

Do you know what the Holocene Optimum is? It wasn't until the current crazy that a couple of scientist started trying to get rid of it. It was warmer during the last interglacial and there were no SUVs around.

The first 6 months of 2016 are the warmest on record according to NASA. It ain't getting any cooler.

Of recorded temperature history which isn't very long and also not by much and due to the El Niño.

So how can you state the MWP was warmer? I say the MWP was not that warm and not global and you ....by your own argument....can't prove otherwise.

Sure you can by reviewing the literature which shows that the MWP was global and warmer than it is today. Cooling occurred after the MWP as a result of the LIA which reversed in the mid 19th century. We are now warming from that time. The phrase "recorded history" is used all the time to make the alarmist argument all the time. That refers only to the last hundred years or so.

Nope....you can not discredit evidence to discredit one view and use the same evidence to support the opposite view. But deniers do it all the time.

MWP and LIA were global. There are lots of papers on that. The ice car show that the Holocene optimum was the warmest. With various other warm periods and cold following, including the current warm period.

You do your very best to discredit sources to establish your POV. Then use the very same sources to establish your POV. There are countless papers confirming climate change. This you choose to ignore or cherry pick.

You are allowed to suggest international conspiracy but no one else can. This argument is ridiculous. It implies that ONLY AGW can cause warming as if only cigarettes can cause lung cancer. Its laughable

Climate change is real and not a hoax. This what the US Senate voted 98 to 1. So if your senator tells you it is a hoax in public and isn't from Mississippi he is lying to you.

So you think politicians decide science? Priceless.
