    Rick Perry

When Obama visited Texas, Rick Perry told him that the President should send National Guard troops to the Mexican border. This brings to mind three things.

First, Perry himself is the C.I.C. of the Texas National Guard. But, as we saw in the previous primaries, he tends to “forget” stuff. I guess someone on his staff finally looked it up.

The governor of a state does not have the constitutional power to deport people to another country. That was decided in Arizona. I guess he “forgot” that too.

Finally, he is lucky that the Cheney/ Bush administration is no longer in power. When hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans, over 35% of the Louisiana National Guard was in Iraq, and unable to respond as they normally would.

And so, the dumbing down of America conrtinues.

    Texas Governor Perry wimps out

We read all this hype about brave Gov. Perry sending National Guard troops to “seal the border.” Well, this article puts it in perspective and shows just what a sham this really is.

The NG will have no power to detain or return anybody back across the border! :flame:

Absolutely... Perry should have followed the president's lead and done nothing. What a disappointing governor... I don't think he even plays golf. :(

Correction.....when BO went fundraising in Texas. That was all that he went to Texas for.....until Perry forced a Meeting by refusing to meet BO at the Airport. Like all other Governors do.

It appears you missed the part on Perry trying to get the Federal Government to do their Job.....in his state and on his Border to another country. Also you must have missed that part on obtaining Federal Resources. Which now Texas is paying for anything on their own.

Perry didn't say they were going to deport people. He Stated they would assist State Police in a specific region of Texas.

Also it was already brought out what the Guard can do in another thread over Perry calling out the Guard. Moreover, which you can discover yourself. That the Guard in N. Orleans when Katrina hit, were used.....and they also did make arrests.

Nah.....only for those that don't want to look for the answers and then facing the facts. Just sayin!

    Huh ?

What else can he do? He's not allowed to hire more border patrol, with the power to do what is needed.
And even if he could, the President is keeping them from doing anything.

Sending some Nat'l Guard as a deterrent is more than anyone else is doing. If you're about to cross a border illegally and see soldiers standing around with guns.... might make some people think twice.

    Your article states:

Granted, he's looking far far more Presidential than the current office

    No kidding.

Gov Perry, you are doing zero to address the problem of our borders, or of the illegal immigrants.

He's doing more than anyone else is.

Instead of people bashing Perry for this, they should look at the guy who won't close the border, while at the same time promising amnesty.

How odd that the two biggest states have the two biggest bimbos.

How odd that the two biggest states have the two biggest bimbos. And both states elected these bimbos as governor.

Both states are rich in natural resources and shipping, so both claim an economic superiority. However, when the so called "great" economic theories of Alaska and Texas were applied in Kansas, their economy fell flat on it’s a.. er.. I mean face.

If Perry was Governor of, say, Mississippi, and Palin was governor of, oh, say Alabama, does anyone think they would be as popular as they are? Really?

Must be jealous of our stable economy, no state income tax, healthy business climate and a legislature that only meets every 2 yrs.

Some states just require more gov't oversite than others. Texas isn't one of 'em.

Gov. Palin isn't the governor of Alaska.
If Mississippi was doing as well economically as Texas, yes, Gov. Perry would be popular. And, yes, if Alabama were doing as well under Gov. Palin as Alaska did when she was Governor, yes, she would be popular. Sadly, President Obama did not nothing noteworthy before he was elected and has done nothing positive since.

The states with the biggest bimbos would be California, with Gov. Brown, and New York, with Gov. Cuomo. Those states are going broke so their governors are not particularly impressive.

I doubt it. Rick was never a sportsman. Like his predecessor, George W. Bush, he was a cheerleader.
