They often claim the gun crime rate has fallen since the easing of concealed and open carry restrictions with no consideration of the reduction of those numbers before the new laws took effect. Why should that be an issue now, after being ignored for so long?

A few minutes ago, Tucker Carlson aired a commercial claiming our 2nd amendment would soon be repealed because 4 supreme court justices had already stated we have no right to defend ourselves in our own home. Our only hope to save the 2nd was to support Trump's SC nominee. The commercial was an obvious silly lie intended to stir up gun nuts.

The decline in crime rates was not due to the Clinton ban. Read the Urban Institute report. And if the ban was effective, then when the ban expired why did the crime rates drop? And if guns are so bad, then why isn't the USA awash in violent crime? Over the past 20 years, gun ownership has skyrocketed, gun restrictions have been removed or eased, yet gun crime and violent crime has decreased. More guns did not result in more crime. Your thesis is wrong, it does not match the data in the USA or AUS.
