So he got his release that he wanted or do they get to keep this dumbass in jail for 9 years?

If it's the letter it's not a victory for putting the only reason the arrested earth is for bargaining to get certain people back that have been held elsewhere.

That's why if you're in a prominent position is an American probably shouldn't go to places like this.

Which you interpret as hating America.

Another way to look at it is that she loves America but she sees something that needs to be improved and this is her way of bringing attention to it.

It serves strictly as a diplomatic bargaining chip. Good thing we should do is not give in don't give them the people they're asking for if you want to keep her for 9 years she's yours.

It sucks and she should have known better but here we are.

I don't think that's an accurate way of looking at it. But I don't think looking at it as though she hates America is accurate either I think she's indifferent most people who perform simply want attention.

Isn't this person like some sort of sports player. Basketball or hockey or baseball or whatever?

She's on the women's league so automatically is not nearly the same attention that men's sports get for some reason. And it seems to work out well for previous athletes that did it so I would call it a play for notoriety more than anything else.

The mistake she made was going into a foreign country thinking that she didn't have a Target painted on her back and she did I'm surprised she's important enough for them to give a crap about.

I had never even heard of this person until this happened. I don't think that would have changed if she hadn't been a circus act.

    Yes she misses America.

Keep in mind she says performer but she's a little known obscure performer. Kind of like that clown that got kicked off the Rams. But I don't watch sportsball but I know who Michael Jordan or Kobe Bryant or Charles Barkley is I can tell you what sports they play I Don't Care. But that's how good their notoriety is I'm familiar with these names.

Good thing is that got kicked off the Rams got the person who's played sports ball that I know the most about I know he played football I know he played for the Rams.

So doing the circus act gets you notarized especially when you suck at what you do or you're just mediocre.

In fact I didn't really know who this was about until I clicked on the thing and read that it's about that dumb lady that got arrested in Russia for carrying an illicit substance.

She wants to get back here to her audience where she can perform more in her circus she doesn't care about the words she says just the applause

She isn't a Pooteen slave, so ruZZia has no right telling her what she can possess. ruZZia might have the right to send Orcs into Ukraine to die, but can't make any rules for U.S. citizens.

Nah, I don't see it that way at all. What I see is an entitled, self-absorbed "celebrity" finally realizing her status won't work as a get outta jail card elsewhere as it most certainly would here. A painful epiphany for her, to be sure - but I'd feel just the same if she were given the same sentence for committing a crime in Japan, Mexico, Latvia, you name it. I'll admit it, I felt the same way when Paris Hilton was carted off to jail. Imbecile "celebrities" thinking they really are above the law - well most of the time they are. It's nice when someone finally brings one of them down to size.

The Left sure loves to talk about Multiculturalism - until they realize that different cultures have different rules. Can't have it both ways there, Griner. Enjoy your borsht - you'll have nine years to acquire the taste.

Of course Russia can make rules for U.S. citizens while they're IN RUSSIA. It's the same as us making rules that apply to Russians (and every other nationality) visiting America. All countries do this. If you go to their country, you follow their rules, or you suffer the consequences. Griner chose the latter option.

When you go into a foreign country they have the right to enforce their laws on you. You can't just gallivant into another country and pretend the law doesn't apply to you

I don't particularly want her back. She's an arrogant idiot. The country is almost certainly better off without her, and the world is undoubtedly better off with a renowned arms dealer locked up rather than running free.

    That's incorrect.

Do you think we have no authority to prosecute non-Americans that break laws inside our country?

if she took selfies inside the Capitol on Jan 6 2021, she would have received 6 years. Are you questioning the sentences being handed down for the Jan 6 selfie-fest within the USA?

Nine years is a pretty harsh sentence. One to two would have made more sense but the Putin justice system does allow dissenters to fly out of windows.
The game here is to raise the stakes for a swap favoring the Mafia State down the line.

You can look at it like you love America and see things that need to be improved and bring attention to them WITHOUT disrespecting the national anthem, which is a symbol of this country. It can be done in a zillion different ways. And, she is partly responsible for the huge increase in violence across America, which often disproportionally effects blacks and minorities. But, the left are far too blind to see that.

    That’s your perspective.

Others might say that it’s possible to protest a perceived problem without disrespecting Congress by invading the Capitol. That anyone who did so, and anyone who supports those invaders, must obviously hate America.

Most at the Capitol, like the George Floyd protesters, were "peaceful protesters", with a relatively small minority taking it too far. But, it's progress if you see that those who got out of hand did it on their own and were not following any orders by Trump. I condemn all of those Capitol rioters who went too far, the George Floyd Protesters who went too far, and those who disrespect our country by disrespecting our national anthem. I say if they don't like living in the US then they should live in Russia. It is the ultimate Karma.

Yeap I agree with this, we've fought to let the ignorant speak out even against one's own country. I feel like she was taken advantage of and made a headline for political purposes. I'm certain she now understands why America's legal system is and has been the best in the world. We need to get her out but not by letting Russian murders free.

Well, her attorney and family say that she said she took vape pen and cartridges because she accidentally forgot to take them out of her bag. Do you think they're lying?

You see “taking a knee” as disrespecting the national anthem.
I see supporting trump as disrespecting the Constitution, which is far worse than disrespecting a song.
