I believe we can beat the odds and eliminate most if not all firearms if we put our mind to it.

    That is a naive view.
Do you think that you can get 2/3 of both houses of congress, and 3/4 of the state legislatures to agree with you? You won't because politicians want to get reelected.
And if you succeeded, who is walking into south side Chicago ghettos to eradicate them. What about the ghettos in Detroit, Baltimore, philly, etc? You going to confiscate from the baddest gangs in America? Who is taking the guns from the rural America?
The U.S. Would have to go to war against its own people. The resistance would be so great that the military would be necessary.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion just as i'm entitled to mine. I just happen to think my opinion is the correct one.

The funny thing is you're going to need lots of guns to enforce your opinion.

That's a slogan, not an explanation.

Yeah, it's pretty much a fantasy and if you look at the news, especially with firearms sales and public opinion, it doesn't seem to be going your way. I'm still waiting on an explanation other than wishful thinking on how disarmament would work.

    It's still a slogan.

My way is not what counts; it's what the American people want that counts. The tide is slowly but surely turning towards restricting gun possession.

Read my original post on this and you'll have your answer.

Really? Considering that gun sales, especially to first time buyers and women along with public opinion polls don't support your opinion.

Glad you feel that way since gun ownership, concealed carry, and public support has never been higher.

The "American people" you talk about is not as large a crowd that you suppose it would be. About half of liberal democrats stick with the 2nd amendment's "the right of the people to keep and bear arms," and almost 100% of the GOP joins us. Not only that, as people become more and more aware that the 2nd amendment WAS INTENDED TO PROTECT the natural right to self defense and food gathering by exactly that ""the right of the people to keep and bear arms," individually.

In addition, nothing has changed, and counter to the people who say, "citizens armed with rifles and shot guns could not win," they are wrong. Having spent 27 years and retiring from the army, I know for a fact that more than half of those I served with would commandeer their big weapons and support the citizens. Tyranny of government is sedition and is traitorous.

Nothing supports his position. It is his personal desire, which is not shared by the majority of Americans. Wishful thinking on his part!

What more gun control do we need than to merely subpoena client purchase data from merchants?

Before you say I'll give you this, please define what an assault weapon is in your view?

United States v. Miller, 307 U. S. 174 , does not limit the right to keep and bear arms to militia purposes, but rather limits the type of weapon to which the right applies to those used by the militia, i.e., those in common use for lawful purposes. Pp. 47–54. IE, it actually allows weapons authorized the Militia (National Guard) and the unorganized regulated militia are acceptable for personal ownership, but does not revoke the 1934 Arms law barring certain firearms, like assault weapons, sawed off shotguns and the like. The recent ban on assault weapons failed because there was no intent to ban semi-auto firearms and it was stupid to include "look alike" firearms in the ban.

That infringes our right to privacy, which the supreme court has used to legislate some prohibitions. They would have to produce just cause to subpoena even the record of 1 gun purchase.

I think we ought to ban stupidity and deport those who lobby for gun control. Either that or have them tried for treason.

are you saying America is becoming more cowardly and less intelligent?

I have never met anyone who worships guns. That must be one of those myths that come from the Church of the Hoplophobic Virgin or something like that.

Gun owners are generally better educated and more prosperous than those who don't own guns

there seems to be a lot of hoplophiles on internet debate forums.

as far as gun owners being more intelligent and more prosperous than non-gun owners, that's a load of baseless bigoted horse(*)(*)(*)(*) and you know it.

wait a minute Ron-haven't you claimed to be a gun owner? you keep contradicting yourself

I am having a hard time believing your claims now

and yes, Americans who legally own firearms are more prosperous and more educated than non gun owners.

black americans tend to be the lowest major ethnic group in terms of income and education
they also have the lowest rate of legal gun ownership

whites have much higher rates of income and education-and of gun ownership

    I own one gun.

I shoot it once every 6 months. I prefer hiking, pool, camping, skeeball, archery.

I don't salavate over guns, collect them like an OCD maniac trying to compensate for a small penis or lack of sexual partners.

and I don't go around talking about all the guns I own and judge others by the caliber of their firearems.

its all very Freudian, something to do with self confidence and sexual insecurity.
