OUTSTANDING!!! McMaster is the hero commander of the battle of 73 Easting during the Gulf War. I have his book "Dereliction of Duty" which was a history of the incompetence and political mismanagement of the Democrats Lyndon Johnson and Robert McNamara in managing our expansion into the Vietnam War. If you want to know why so many had to die for basically nothing, read how Johnson wanted to fight Vietnam on the cheap while he enacted his Great Society program and how MacNamara convinced him that the solution was proportional escalation to bring the enemy to the negotiating table rather than fight to win. Accompanied by the weak compliance of political generals, we had to sacrifice thousands of young men for engaging them in a war that wasn't fought with objectives to win.

McMaster also had difficulties getting his first star because of conflicts with political generals who didn't want to rock boats when fighting in Iraq or Afghanistan. He helped devise the counterinsurgency strategy that pacified Iraq until Obama threw the victory there into the (*)(*)(*)(*)ter by cutting and running.

He is a realist, won't commit Americans to ventures that don't involve victory as a goal and will speak truth to power. Not a yes man for Trump or anybody. Yes that's a silver star on his chest for heroism in combat.
