What stress are they in? I would be curious to know cause I feel today’s kids have it pretty darn easy.

I'm not sure the wolves exist.

We've been inviting everyone to come into the US, so if they do exist we will
    soon find out.

And we have bred wolves in past because we need enemies of some kind
or the weapons makers won't get the wars they need in order to sell weapons.

Shipping huge quantities of weapons to a country famous for corruption, Ukraine
and leaving lots of weapons behind in Afghanistan should arm people and maybe
we can then call them 'enemies'.

Utter lack of guidance, absolute right and wrong, purpose and direction.

Not just as children. I was raised by two atheist parents and had no absolutes
in my thinking. Fortunately I went to a Christian boarding school.

Direction and focus are pretty much the same as purpose.

For many years each town had a main industry, and other businesses of
    various sorts.

Then we get to see the blight of neoliberalism.

The big wood working company is gone. Flat pack cabinets and such
arrive from the Far East and are installed by hourly labor.

Most towns I've been in are the same. The big businesses has left and
people are in sundry office buildings or various service industries.

Many people can not predict what they will be doing five years ahead.

Many school age children are not working toward proficiency in something
they will do when they are employed or become employers.

Every generation thinks the same of the ones that follow.
I often wonder how one can think of the good old days while saying the current days are better.

Sadly I disagree. It only takes one greedy madman to build a war. Supporting Ukraine is about reigning in Putin, not saving Zelensky.

Sorry, somehow I got totally crossed over as to which part of the forum I
    was in.

It's good that you can evaluate two different narratives.

People who only hold one narrative can't evaluate, really at all.

I think most people are like that, and pick the red team or the blue
team to take one example and then stick with it.

A trickier situation is picking one narrative in a conflict and then
trying to see the other one. Most people can't do that.
