I would hardly call it a rant and she did say "we must all live peaceably in our own faiths under the Constitution"

So what is the issue? <Mod Edit>

The financial meltdown was not a Ponzi scheme. It was a perfect storm with multiple factors contributing to the financial collapse. However, this only proves that Sen Sanders does not know business or what caused the actual crash, but instead relies on the blame game which is typical in American politics.

    Is that it?

Then her contention seems strangely in contrast with Cruz's rhetoric, which does not seem to embody, personify, or even be inspired by Christian ideals.

Someone needs to remind Heidi that you can't look into the face of God lest you die.

Most on the far Right have no clue what socialism is (thinking it is the same as communism) never mind knowing what Marxism is.

As soon as they figure out "This Label means BAD" they use that label on anything they disagree with.

Reading what Heidi Cruz said.....do you think she and her husband have "theocratic tendencies"?

    - - - Updated - - -

    Ironic, huh?

Many of the same Far Right who CLAIMED that "liberals think of Obama as a Messiah"....

blissfully (and with full hypocrisy) think of Ted Cruz as one.

That does not seem to faze the Evangelicals that Cruz panders to in the least.

I've actually done it...as an experiment on another blog.

I posted a quote from Ike where he defended social security, union laws, unemployment benefits...and asked the local Right...."What's your opinion of this statement from a famous politician?"

The ones that didn't cheat and Google....called it "a defense of socialism".

Or you can use Theodore Roosevelt (a REPUBLICAN) talking about inheritance taxes and the progressive income tax.

    Her rant is also incorrect.

From Article 11 of the Treaty of Tripoli signed on November 4, 1796 by John Adams.

"The Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion"

As this is from the same man who helped form the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, I'll take his word over some religious fanatic.

I really tired of Hollywood portraying psychotic killers as religious zealots.

People act as if such words have an immutable physical reality. When in fact, the word socialism is a shifting cluster of vague concepts.... That have no more singular root than a word like conservative, or christian.... Which words similarly can refer to lots of different, subjective, and often mutually exclusive ideas

And yes, to echo your point, conservatives use the word socialism only to encapsulate what they despise. As Such, the word has little actual meaning other than its function as an expedient cudgel.

It is one of many convenient stereo types. I guess hollywood would not use such such cliches when we stop responding to them

I support anyone's right to claim religious superiority. I would expect nothing less from a devout person.
