I like good, sane, discussions aboult anything, but I thoroughly enjoy discussions aboult the Islamic faith. Having studied it as a hobby for about 10 years I can keep up with the best of them. I reference the top 5 translations of Qur'an, and the Sunnah. Muhammeds biographys, from about 400 years prior his birth, to a little after his death. Word of caution, I don't pull punches.
So, if the verses are put in order by year I understand the peaceful part of the Qur’an come first and the violent parts last.
The short version. The Qur'an itself is jibberish, written on a 6th grade level, goes in and out of the 1st, second, and third person. No context, no storyline. Jumps from one thing to another, and is not in chronological order. There are two Qur'ans, the first, (Meccan) and the last (Medina), and yes, the first is somewhat peaceful. This answer leaves out 90% of the related facts, which I'm sure will come up, and be addressed.

Actually it's worse than the OT and Nt. Islam was plagiarized from Judism, Christianity, Zoestranism, and Greek medical, so it's off to a shakey beginning anyway. In Islam, All the biblical charactors are muslim, yes, Adam, Noah, Mosus, Joseph,Jesus, etc at a time when muslims did not exist. 1st record is about 800 AD. They charactors are splattered haphazardly, in no specific order, and their events are a little different. You have in the messenger a beautiful pattern of conduct to follow. (Qur'an) Muhammed is not in the Qur'an, mentioned 4 times, and at least 3 could be someone else.
The Sirat Rasual Allah is a good place to start with Islam, It is Islams first documentation, and the only biography of Muhammed written within 200 years of his lifetime, and is available online. Many muslims will use the excuse, it is not Qur'an, so it is not valid, however it worked fine for 1000 years as Islam looted the surrounding countries, as ordered by Muhammed himself. It is one of the vilest books written and would be illegal in a pornographic movie. In 80% of the writings, Muhammed is robing, raping, or killing someone. Now as Islam reaches the modern stage, most of the written religion has to be denied publicly, but privately it is the basis of all the terror we experience today.
This is supposed to be a welcome thread not defending or trashing the Kuran. So if you are here to debate welcome, but debate where we are supposed to debate not in the Welcome thread.
