The only way to truly save Social Security and make it 2 - 3 X better is to privatize it into a system of individual accounts. Sadly a commission was established to develop a plan in the late 90's but Bill Clinton's dalliances prevented this from happening in his Presidency. Privatization was initially part of Dubya's prescription drug medicare reform but it was pulled before being presented to Congress.

This might get her elected yes, but do you trust her to do as she promises? I sure the hell don't. Also, all Trump has to do is implement the idea BEFORE the election and boom! Re-elected.

No politician can be trusted. As with Trump, the President we elect in the next election will not be the President we get.

What do you propose to do with current receiving SS pensions?

I was happy with W's plan to privatize a small percentage of SS tax is you wanted. Too bad the Dems didn't want anything to do with personal choice.

People should pay as their ability allows. Removing the cap wouldn’t be noticed by the vast majority of the population or the top earners, only the people that are barely over the limit would be hit to where it might impact their standard of living somewhat.

I look at is as a net gain, reduce homelessness and suffering around me — improve the environment so I don’t see plastic trash everywhere when I go hike or scuba dive — improve the roads which I will be a beneficiary of — be like every nation in the world and have a minimum level of healthcare so that some in my family no longer struggle — it’s benefiting us all.

It’s a better long term ideology than bombing farmers in other countries and creating more terrorists.

Income tax is not really part of the SS discussion as far as I'm concerned. If you want to talk about that, then we have to include cap gains. If you want to remove the cap on SS taxes, then I would ask for the removal of the cap on SS payments as well. If I put in more, I should be able to get more back.

We would likely have to do a split system and phase the old program out.

Anyone born after a certain date would stay on the current program.
Anyone born before a certain date would be enrolled in the new program.
Anyone born between those two dates would be allowed to roll their accounts over or stay on the old program.

Deficits would have to be taken from the general budget.

Thats not how an insurance works.
It’s a UBI to make sure the elderly do not fall into poverty like they did in the past.

I trust her a hell of a lot more than the lying scoundrel in there now. This guy has a lifelong record of stiffing and cheating people that goes back several decades. 3000 lawsuits against him and many still pending. $24,000,000 judgement against him for cheating people with his phony university....Need I go on?

The best her opposition has come up with on her is that she claimed to be part Native American...If Trump proposed raising SS payments by $2000 a month, Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity would have hissy fits and make Trump change his mind in a New York minute.

Before you even suggest to increase SS you better have a ironclad plan to pay for it after 2034 its only 75% funded and will just continue to get worse.

With Trump we knew we were getting a lying scumbag from the get go. With somebody else, at least there’s hope.

    That's not his neighbor's fault.
His neighbor is not obligated to pay to fix this on his behalf.
He voted for the scoundrels that did it.
He should live with the results

Making more than $136k or $250k makes one a billionaire ?
Why don't you stop with the hyperbole?

Nobody else's money belongs to you

I specifically stated a guy making more than $136k.
    Stop the hyperbole.
Billionaires aren't paying payroll tax anyway. They get distributions.

Warren talks about $250k while the current cap is $136k, and the deceit propagators on PF keep talking about billionaires in support of their arguments.
    Pathetic

If nobody else's money belongs to you, then it sounds like you oppose the military, public schools, and public roads that provide services for the general public so they don't have to pay for it themselves, using taxes that take more from the wealthy than from the working class. In that case, why live in a country you so fundamentally disagree with?

Heres the problem with that, she cant do it, she can say she wants to all she wants to garner votes but she cant and she wont do it if shes elected. It would never pass congress.

Democrats are famous for campaigns that offer the stars and the moon, Vote for me Ill give it to you for free, they most always never do what they say and when confronted blame republicans for blocking it

Have you heard of the progressive tax rate?
It already exists. And you dont know my tax rate.

But you're the one asking for additional tax on those that earn more than you, not me.

I am slowly warming up to Warren. She is thoughtful, she listens and her motivations are from the right place. SS increases are nice but no one should depend on SS for all their retirement income.

I still am undecided on a candidate to support. My top 3 are Harris, yang and Bennet.
