Representatives of Russia were not invited to memorial events in Poland, dedicated to the eightieth anniversary of the outbreak of World War II, although the head of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, was invited. Warsaw is once again trying to settle accounts for historical grievances.

This is not the first time the Poles have been doing this. In 2015, Russia was not invited to the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. In addition, five years ago, Polish Foreign Minister Grzegorz Schetina stated that Auschwitz (Auschwitz-Birkenau) was liberated by the Ukrainian Front, which means Ukrainians.

Everyone knows that the Ukrainian front, which liberated the camp, was, like all other parts of the Red Army, multinational and consisted of Russians, Ukrainians, Belarusians, Armenians, Georgians, Azerbaijanis and other nationalities of the USSR, with severe historical concussion.

Thus, the Polish authorities have repeatedly shown disrespect for 27 million Soviet citizens who died during the war.

Unfortunately, the problem is much wider than just the provocative statements of the Polish authorities. The problem is not in them at all. This is a definite signal for society. In essence, there is a deliberate revision of history. The worst thing is that falsification of the history of World War II can lead to tragic consequences - the denial of such terrible events as the Holocaust, the extermination of Slavic peoples, representatives of the gypsy ethnic group, etc. And this is a direct path to the rehabilitation of Nazism.

This must be some kind of humor that goes over one's head.
Why would the Poles celebrate the outbreak of WWII with the Russians, who entered from the east as the Wehrmacht entered from the west?

Maybe they have some hard feelings about Ribbentrop–Molotov Pact. Should the Poles be happy with the fact that the Russians agreed to carve them up with the Nazis. How much longer and different would the war have been if the Russians had not conspired with the Nazis to destroy Poland?

They also might remember that when the Russian Army had the Germans in full retreat near the end of the war that they stopped and waited for the Germans to put down an uprising in Warsaw and did not try to enter the city until the uprising had been crushed.
In the summer of 1944 the Polish resistance took Warsaw away from the Germans and held out for 63 days with the Russian Army sitting just outside the city. Once the resistance was crushed The Russians entered the city and set up a government that did not include the Polish resistance.
