That means there are plenty of openings for those who whine about CRT and “groomers” to put their money where their mouth is and become teachers so they can make a difference. Nah…those type of people aren’t do’ers. They just want to complain.

Yep. No arguing with that....but give it a moment. They'll fabricate another Q theory.

    Are you a teacher, then?
In California we have new neighborhoods with great schools and older neighborhoods with crappy schools. We actually have a new Catholic High School going in to a fairly low middle class Latino area. The schools that are bad are really bad and parents what a successful education for their kids, not a bunch of social justice warriors who are going to get canned for shooting their mouths off to the boss.

Kind of like we have a police officer shortage but no one seems to care about that

Well, since Righties are all about everyone being armed, why would we need the police?

However, THIS thread is about teachers. So, tell me how all that attacking of teachers for the past year plus over CRT did not contribute to this crisis?

You act like it's the first time there's ever been a teacher shortage.

You would have to prove your claim first for someone to disprove it.

So the argument is teachers don’t want to work in California because Texas doesn’t want CRT in schools?

So in an era of widespread labor shortages across many industries, you are making the assumption that what is responsible is a fringe issue that has far more longevity and relevance in political circles than it does in the real-world everyday life of teachers for the past 9 months or so since it has even been an issue?

    LOL. CMON.

I had to re-read your post several times. It doesn't make a lick of sense unless you've just joined, and you've been around this place long enough and participated in those very same CRT threads, so don't be coy.

I know full well it is discussed here often. Thats just it, you need to step away from this room. Outside of political circles, the opposition to CRT is NOT something that is driving the narrative for the every day life of a teacher. You are confusing the twitter mob for real life. I have several family members that are teachers. While they all have complaints about teaching, not once has ANY of them made mention of parental opposition to curriculum as being among their problems.

To ignore the reality that most industries have labor shortages right now, and instead delude yourself into honestly believing that a teacher shortage is due to maybe 9 months of parent opposition to CRT is downright nonsensical.

So you're saying the article I linked to at the beginning is a lie because your anecdote supercedes it. Is that about right?

And BTW, it's not just CRT, it's the relentless attack of idiotic culture wars coupled with the stress, confusion, and fear of the pandemic. But hey, your family members are the barometer by which we all have to gauge reality. So just ignore everything else.

I have to hand it to you, you never cease to outdo yourself in pretzel logic.

It has nothing to do with an anecdote and everything to do with common sense.

If your article is trying to blame opposition to CRT as the reason for a teacher shortage, then yes, they are full of BS ( in truth they mention it as one of many factors). If it is you that is twisting their words and drawing that conclusion on your own, then it is YOU that is full of BS.

There is no way in hell that such a recent issue could possibly manifest itself that quickly on such a macro level. Yeesh. Think for a moment.

If you want to look to a list of teacher complaints, it would undoubtedly be low pay, diminishing pensions, parents that think their children can do no wrong, parents that do not stress education which reflects in their kids etc.

The notion that a tiny number of parents in a tiny number of school districts have had some major clashes at school board meeting over curriculum in the last year or so goes no higher than complaint number 4302 for teachers.

So your argument is that we have a teacher shortage because teachers can't teach race hate and instead have to teach the actual curriculum the school board approves? And that effects California? This doesn't sound like a cogent argument.

Hopefully the teachers “refusing” to work are the ones failing to teach critical thought. The OP is evidence what is being taught is that journalists should do your thinking for you and anything they print is reality.

For the OP theory to be taken seriously there would have to be a disparity between shortages in different states. Teachers who want to teach CRT would be moving from Texas to California. There would be plenty of teachers in CA and a shortage in TX.

The teacher shortage is only made worse by the unprincipled lies about teachers telling white kids they should be ashamed they're white. We can't find enough STEM teachers when the starting pay is around $40,000 a year.

LOL. Sure. And ag labor shortages are caused by unprincipled lies about GMO’s.

Teachers who teach "critical thought" are the ones turning their backs on public education. Who wants to be attacked by rightwing fanatics?

Who is attacking teachers in San Francisco and Chicago? LOL

Why can’t unions raise wages for the poor abused teachers? Is it because only 90% of teachers are unionized? Why can’t unions protect teachers from abuse by right wing fanatics?

Why aren’t teachers flocking to places like CA where CRT is welcomed and the economy is a powerhouse?
