Isn’t this the same thing as Affirmative Action? Quotas?

    quote:
“…more than 90 percent of medical schools and nearly half of nursing bachelor's programs are using holistic admissions.”

    Taxcutter asks:
Does this not explain the high washout rate?

    Quote:
“…holistic admissions can consider such factors as a candidate's background and disadvantaged status…”

    Taxcutter asks:
Do YOU want a doctor who got in because of his/her disadvantages? Not me.

If you are selecting from the top 5% of the pre-med potential population and one has a 4.0 vs. 4.1 vs. 3.9 and
MCATS within the same variances, I DON'T CARE. Your 'racist' put down assumes you are getting a C student vs. an A student.
You really have no idea about how this works do you?? Yeah, I'd also like for ALL my doctors to also have done MED school in
Harvard and Stanford or UPENN and their residences at Hopkins and the like but that's is the top 1/10 percentile (or less) of all doctors.

I feel fully assured the creators of posts like these haven't applied.

    Taxcutter says:
Grades and test scores have been proven metrics for excellence for decades.

When did "disadvantage" become a substitute for grades and tests scores?

Do you really want a shortage of doctors and nurses because quotas for "special needs" students dilute the incoming classes?
