Apparently the GOP hates Obamacare so much that they want to keep it for themselves and their staffers:

I'm sure they will see quite a bit of heat for this and end up pulling it. Could it be a "poison pill" deliberately included to keep the optics of the GOP forcing the removal of tens of millions of Americans from having affordable healthcare with another critical election not really that far off?

They have already seen a great deal of pushback whenever they face their constituents as the AHCA grows increasingly popular.

It's easy to see why the Republicans would want to exempt themselves from their own healthcare changes. They are, after all, special and deserve better than the standard hoi polloi that constitutes the people who elected them as their representatives.

Why is it not surprising that Congress will keep Obamacare for themselves but not for the average citizen. :D

It's been fun to watch the GOP finally forced to grapple with the reality of health care. And math, for that matter.

I'd feel sorry for them if they hadn't been such dicks about it for eight years.

That's because congress didn't fall under the ACA, they were exempt from it.

They still have their original coverage prior to ACA.

    http://www.politifact.com/wisconsin...are-congress-must-buy-insurance-marketplaces/

If you want hypocrisy, you'll note that the Obama's didn't participate in the ACA either.

Lol no they don't! Did you even reD what you posted?!? The exchanges ARE Obamacare!
The so called exemption was that they are getting subsidized even though they aren't low income

In 2010 Congress decided that lawmakers and staff who want insurance from their federal jobs should enter the exchanges it set up for regular Americans under the Affordable Care Act.

The administration issued regulations in 2013 that designated the D.C. small business exchange, or “SHOP,” as the go-to exchange for congressional lawmakers and staff who wanted to retain a federal employer subsidy that covers about three-quarters of their premiums.

They purchased SHOP coverage, and have access to all the gold level packages via a waiver.

    http://thehill.com/blogs/congress-b...wrong-congress-quietly-takes-obamacare-waiver

Congressional leaders from both parties quietly and gratefully accepted the special deal from the administration’s Office of Personnel Management. It gives legislators and staff “Gold Level” ObamaCare coverage with a 75 percent subsidy paid by taxpayers or even the option of opting out and retaining their previous heavily subsidized plan. The income of members and staff is simply not counted.

While technically this falls under ACA, it's not the "Obamacare" coverage that most people are getting.

Ironically, Obama and his staffers still maintained their FEHB coverage.

    Right.

They got a special waiver that allowed them to meet the requirements of the law, while at the same time keeping their same level of previous coverage.

Is that the same thing as everyone else's Obamacare coverage? I don't think it is.

It's Obamacare. It doesn't deny those with preexisting conditions, it doesn't allow charging women more, etc etc

    It's Obamacare...literally, not technically

For years they passed how many bills to repeal ObamaCare????
Now, they control everything and they have no clue.
They remain HUGE hypocrites. ObamaCare sucks, but we in congress don't want to give it up....
Trump: 'Nobody knew health care could be so complicated'

Um, no, Donald, intelligent, informed people knew it was complicated.

You might read the bolded part in my quote where OPM gave them the ability to opt out and retain their previous coverage.

Obama Care exempted Congress as well. The hypocrisy is so thick you can cut it with a knife.

Trump tried to rush the repeal/replace promise to try to get it through in his first 100 days. It's not a dead issue...

Did you chide the Democrats in Congress when they exempted themselves from Obama Care or not?

I didn't say it was dead - I was only pointing out - in his own words - what an ignoramus the so-called president is.
Not only a pathological liar, but an ignorant liar.

That seems to be a "misconception" (notice I didn't say lie) being perpetuated by... certain people.

Congress should be forced to have the same shitty options they have been cramming down our throats forever.

    **** these scum.

Unreal the disgusting charlatantry of the right and left on this issue.

I'd be willing to bet one election cycle of these *******s being forced to have the same **** insurance we all have and they'd be pushing single payer so ****ing hard youd forget which party they were a part of.

No, the only exception is that it's classified as Obamacare under the law, without actually being Obamacare.

It meets the letter of the law, but it is not what other get under Obamacare.

Effectively, they still retained their old coverage.

You can call it whatever you want, but it didn't actually change.

Congress liked their doctor, but they were the only ones who actually got to keep their doctors under Obamacare.

I kept my doctor. Can members of congress be denied or charged more for preexisting conditions? Can women be charged more? No, because it's Obamacare.
