Targeting shipping that supports forces that are committing a genocide seems pretty legit to me.
The Houthis have been getting bombed by Saudi Arabia for many years. What do we think a few more airstrikes will accomplish? Getting tied up in Yemen is EXACTLY what Iran wants for us to do.

The smart move would be to renounce support for the regime comitting genocide, Israel. That would quickly stop attacks on shipping, AND stop our current immoral stance in this issue. But, I'm guessing we;ll do the idiotic thing, dig our heels in, and get stuck in another forever war that we will realize in 20 years was a complete waste of time and based on lies.

It's kind of been our way in recent conflicts. I for one am tired of tax payer dollars and American soldier's lives being thrown away into another useless conflict.

So, let me see if I've got this right.

You think that letting a terrorist group randomly attack total strangers, rewarding them for that by giving in to their demands, WON'T result in further boats being ****ed with?

    LOL.

I think that if Western nations would stop supporting genocide, it would stop Houthis from taking actions that they see as supporting their fellow muslims being wiped out by a much stronger power. Right now the Houthis have the moral high ground. Its not "rewarding" them. It is acknowledging that slaughtering innocents is wrong, and America's stance in this conflict has been wrong. Diplomacy is the only way any of these issues will be resolved.

These airstrikes are exactly what the Houthis want. It gives them MUCH more political standing, and will lead to them receiving much more support, and is leading to a massive escalation.

Thinking of this as "rewarding" them, and not changing direction because we don't want to "reward" them, is going to backfire big time. Many probably will realize this for a decade or two, similar to the disaster that was Iraq.

The Houthis do not have the moral high ground ffs. They're targeting randoms.

Their fellow muslims committed decades of terrorism and demanded an existential war to the knife with their neighbors. They're being obliged. Square biz, that.

If the airstrikes fail to stop them, its because you didn't use enough.

You're literally saying "ok, we'll do what you want because you're ****ing with the boats". That's going to lead to them using that tactic ANYTIME they want something.
    Its a poor choice.

That occurred to me as well. A big question for me is why John Kerry is now front and center, leaving his climate czar job to work in the campaign. That gives us the Obamas and now Kerry who would seem to be involved in decision making for this administration. I guess we can just count as the snakes come out of their den as Biden's mental problems grow. Kerry is one I had not considered.

No, I'm saying we should stop supporting genocide because it is the right thing to do. More airstrikes will not do ****. We are firing missiles that cost millions to shoot down little drones and missiles that cost only thousands. We can drop bombs all over the place, and any damage caused can be replaced in days, easily. The way to stop this is through diplomacy, and doing the right thing.

And I'm saying we're not supporting genocide, the Houthis in fact are since they have no qualms with what Hamas pulled recently (or ever), and you're literally rewarding them for acting out.

You don't give the child throwing a ****ing temper tantrum and attacking other children what they demand. If you do that, expect further tantrums.

The way to stop this is to glass any known position of Houthi rebels, immediately. If they pop back up? Continue. Eventually? They'll stop popping back up.

Well, if the US ever puts boots on the ground in Yemen over this, I'll be right there with ya...

Uh...we seem to expect people to give us what we demand when we throw tantrums and attack others... but when others do it it is a big no-no?
What's more depraved, genocide or disrupting shipping?
They've been under constant airstrikes over 9 years. You cannot ever win a conflict with airstrikes alone. You need boots on the ground for that. If we put boots on the ground, it would be beyond stupid.
Airstrikes ARE the temper tantrum that we are throwing because we are not getting what we want.

They have acted in terrorist manner because Western societies have been attacking & bombing their civilizations for centuries to serve our own interest. How many Middle Eastern innocent lives have been lost because of US interest in that region? Millions! If it's not directly the US destroying their societies, it's are weapons that are doing it, at the behest again of US interest. Your solution is merely more F'ing bombs. Just say what you mean and say the only way to eliminating their terror, will be to destroy each and everyone in that region... or.. we could leave them the F alone like they have been asking for!

We have had boots on the ground in that region for decades. We have active military forces occupying Syrian territory right now.

Keep whining about these poor slavers.
Centuries? Dude come off it. The US isn't "the west". We're not responsible for the siege of Constantinople going the way it did ffs, or any other asinine claims.
Israel has a right to exist, the only issues that pop up come when various nations decide to test that theory. When they test it, they end up worse off than before.
Stop ****ing around, you'll stop finding out.

I did say what I mean: The only way to stop terrorists who attack random civilians to extort nation states to comply with their demands, is to kill them.

Everyone in the region? Dude the Houthi's don't even control all of the areas they claim to, much less all of ****ing Yemen. You're being rather hyperbolic.

What attack? You mean on Hamas?

What genocide? Hamas isn't even 10% of all Palestinians ffs.

Sure you can, you just have to have enough of them.

Airstrikes are a proportionate response which eliminates the ability of the enemy to strike at the boats. You destroy their war materials, and the people trained on them, until there aren't any more.

The only people supporting genocide are Iran and its proxies, and when you parrot their propaganda and rhetoric you only legitimize their aggression.

    Not terribly humanitarian at all...

Its a good thing you are not one of our policy makers. With that strategy we would never win wars. Oh, wait... That IS the strategy we use, and we never win. We just start wars then retreat when it gets too costly to continue or the public gets tired of all of their tax dollars and their son's lives going towards another useless forever war.

We haven't built enough bombs ever to accomplish what you want to accomplish, which seems like another genocide, I suppose. Because you would have to kill literally everyone in the type of war the Houthis are accustomed to fighting. It will become another Vietnam. Unjust and unwinnable.

They are just as guilty. I condemn them just as much as the West. Supporting just what the west is doing, and only condemning Iran and friends is also not humanitarian. I have said it many times. there are no good guys in this conflict, and ALL are egging it on, wasting lives and resources in a war that will end with no gains.

It seemed to work well enough against the japanese. Straightened them right out.

We very much have built enough bombs, its just that bleeding hearts like yourself want to take the route of appeasement. Have fun with that **** Chamberlain.

Vietnam is entirely different from Yemen. The VC are entirely different from the Houthi.

Maybe you relish the idea of killing hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians. Is that really what you want to do to the population of Yemen? Not kill just the combatants, but all of them? And for what, to allow Israel to kill tens of thousands more? Seriously?

I do not want my country having anything to do with that. We are better than that.

Which part? Supporting Israel? Hopefully Biden grows a pair and puts his foot down soon. Last I heard he hasn't reached that point yet, though he is growing frustrated with Bibi's idiocy.

Tomato, tomahto. tens of thousands of innocent civilians dead, over 2 million starving in the streets, Israeli politicians wanting to completely remove them from Gaza...
If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck...

Of course the powers that be won't officially call it genocide. Turkey says the same things about the Armenians.

I guess if we just don't label it genocide, it somehow makes slaughtering civilians, dropping bombs on hospitals and safe zones, and starving and displacing millions of people is somehow ok.

This is where you say "It's all on Hamas. They forced those pilots to drop bombs on innocent civilians." smh.

Well, you are right that it isn't a war. It is a well armed military massacring innocent civilians, starving and making homeless the rest, and maybe occasionally taking out a couple hamas guys.
