As usual for the Democrats and the anti-gunners it will be theatrics. The Democrats will pump out one after one of their party line talking points as proposed legislation, fully knowing the Senate will block it and Trump will veto it, if it gets that far. So why all of tis bluster and fluff? 2020 and Democrats trying to make themselves look viable while taxpayers pay for this crap. Comments from the "real gun lobby," not the NRA. https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2018/nov/26/how-a-democratic-house-will-affect-gun-rights/ “Expect hearings on taxpayer-funded gun violence research, magazine restrictions, ammunition bans, age-based gun bans and attempts to outright ban entire classes of firearms,” says Larry Keane, senior vice president and general counsel for the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), the trade association for firearms manufacturers (full disclosure: I’ve done some contract work for the NSSF).
Because politicians can freely and openly run on a firearm-related restriction campaign base, telling the public that they are incapable of exercising sound judgement for themselves due to their being too stupid, and expect wide public support from the voting public, correct?
The pro violent criminal lobby (ie the Democrat Party) will help erase the gun sales slump that took place when Trump kept the Wicked Witch out of the West Wing. The mindless demonization of modern Sporting Rifles will cause lots of people who do not currently own them, to buy them. Constant brain dead rants by idiots like Pelosi and other Gun haters about how AR 15s are designed for mass murder will probably cause a few more nutcase losers to use an AR 15 to kill people in a gun free zone
The Democrats will yell and scream and cry at every mass shootings, and then use the dead bodies as leverage in their continued attempt to push their anti-gun agenda. In other words - nothing will change.
They held all three branches in 2009, and they did nothing I think Democrats avoid this issue when they are in control because it's a loser
That's right -- they put the retention of their political power in front of, as they would say, the lives of innocent children.
Indeed. Some threaten the use of nuclear weapons on those who refuse to give up their guns. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/ca...against-gun-owners-resisting-firearms-control
Yeah, it looks like bozo-the-clown is one of them https://www.usatoday.com/story/news...ess-second-white-house-gun-meeting/381145002/
Unfortunately a lot will change but probably not involving the congress in DC. It will be on a State and local level. All of the half dozen groups Michael Bloomberg is funding have submitted identical bills to each and every state and have them in the hands of any sympathetic legislator they can find. The last election will cost those that live in Washington state for example a lot of headaches and look for it to come to a state where you live. Their foot is in the door and although nationally it may be hard to get what they want through, on a local level it is a different story. I heard the numbers of voters in WA state and something like 60% of permit holders did not even bother to vote on the proposal. How they got those numbers is beyond me but if the gun owners don't get very active very quickly, we will all be looking at onerous laws in our states. BTW, thank the republicans currently in DC for doing nothing for two years about H.R.367 - Hearing Protection Act of 2017 and H.R.38 - Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2017 (which scare me because one law controlled by one entity is easy to make very restrictive.) My 2¢
Simple, support from both the house and senate to get the bills through congress. They had the votes and the support of gun owners. Both bills made sense.
The republican party did not have the minimum number of votes in either the house or senate for passage of either piece of legislation along party lines. Without cooperation from the democrat party, nothing could be done.
