Z said Trayvon went for his gun, and that led to the shooting as he tried to prevent Travon getting it.

Z blew it with those statements today.

He's going to prison for sure now.

No way for Trayvon to know Z had a gun, UNLESS Z had it out and was threatening Trayvon with it before the event Z described took place.

    Z = stupid.

Claude, are you serious? You can't see a gun unless it's in someone's hand and when you sitting on someone you could never feel a gun?

Get serious. Besides, the liberals aren't interested in prison. They've posted a bounty and are going for a killing. They feel Eric Holder has their back.

Zimmerman supporters on this forum will probably claim it fell out or otherwise became accessible to Trayvon after some sort of scuffle ensued...

This is the only option that fits the "that boy had it coming" position I have been reading most often here.

Did Z have a permit to carry openly, or concealed, or what?

He had a Florida concealed carry permit.

That was mentioned in the very first stories to come out about the shooting.

Then I'll ask again, how did Trayvon know Z had a gun unless Z was displaying it illegally?

Displaying a weapon you have a concealed carry permit for is not a crime.

And you can easily see the outline of most sidearmes in someones pocket, waistband, or you can often easily see up close a concealed carry holster.

You can certainly learn someone has a weapon by feeling it when you are grappling with them in close quarters.

"Police have been reluctant to provide details about their evidence. "

the more that leaks the more it's harder to just shove this under the rug

I would like Zimmerman to come forward and give a interview, he took a life, he could at least say why, explain how it all happened

sounds like the girlfriend call will play a part in this as it may make the minute window even smaller

An interview could be very hazardous to him legally.

how so, if he is innocent and he only tells the truth

if he is not telling the truth, it could be very hazardous

What he says in an interview can be used against him in a civil suit by Martins family (regardless of whether he is convicted in a criminal trial) which could leave Zimmerman bankrupt for the rest of his life.

again if he only tells the truth, what is the issue

I understand if he has things to hide, that would hurt him if he slipped and said something, what would he have to hide?

    Oooohhhh... let me guess.

Wearing a hoodie makes you a threat.

Displaying a weapon while you accost a stranger that you've stalked shouldn't be viewed as a threat.

Because from a criminal perspective he is not arguing that he is "innocent".

By claiming "self defense" he is arguing that he was "justified". and self defense justification is an affirmative defense. Zimmerman and his lawyer have to prove it, the basic in a court of law assumption is against him to begin with.

By making an in depth statement about what he says happened he is exposing what is position will be to the district attorney and giving them the advantage of constructing an argument to dismantle his self defense claim.

If you have a conceal carry permit and the gun "prints" in any way, you are breaking the law.

Z f'd up big time and this statement is the first indication that he knows he did.

Conceal carry licensees are required to keep their weapon concealed, and that means it cannot be discerned that you are carying.

Looks more and more like Z took law enforcement into his own hands.

Too bad for Z, he's goin to the re-bar hotel.

Your childish attempt to dehumanize Mr. Zimmerman by calling him "Z' is amusing in its amateurness.

And I've always said he needed to serve jail time. Perhaps 1-3 years.

Most reports I've seen say that Martin was unarmed. Where did the OP get the information that says he had a gun?

You should take a lesson from Dayton3. Z's lawyer would advise against it anyway. Your own words, even if you are innocent, can be used against you in court in ways that would surprise you. That is why you should never say anything to the Police, even at a traffic stop except for what is mandatory, like your name and address, or a good lawyer could take you to the cleaners.

She is the one making a claim based on outside evidence.

Traditional rules of debate are that she be the one to provide access to referenced evidence.

It was actually illegal for Zimmermann to draw his weapon according to Florida Law:

It is unlawful to have or carry a firearm in the presence of one or more persons and exhibit the firearm in a rude, careless, angry, or threatening manners, except in cases of self-defense.
