Posting micro essays as topics on a forum sort of works. But on forums, the Moderators are in charge, while at my blog I am in charge. And Moderators generally disapprove of using their forum as a blog. I hope to start a popular blog or an online newspaper column.
You'll have to promote your content C, you can promote for free on social media, however personally I find it very annoying when people promote to me on social so be subtle, perhaps use the advertising feature if you can afford it. You can also use sites like Outbrain many popular news sites use outbrain to supplement their content, but you'll pay per click. Also guest blogging on blogs with similar topics to your own linking back to your blog.
A good way of getting traffic is by trying to get something published on a more popular blog/news site. "The article was written by CCitizen who also runs the blog xxx." Another good way is creating a Twitter account specifically for your blog where you share new your posts. If you get the hashtags right and produce good content, you will earn a big following. I know it was not mentioned or asked for, but if you want a YouTube vlog-style news-channel being female helps out a lot if you want to grow fast. Facebook, posting signage, having family or friends spread the word, include links to your blog in your email signature.
Sorry for butting in R.... Unless Ritter or other members can post some recommendations for blogs you're going to have to search. There's Technorati, a very popular blog directory and Google does have a blog search function, but here's a good article on Mashable how to find blogs http://mashable.com/2011/04/11/blog-discovery/#hnFKKo3aNqq4 So make a list of those in your category, look at the blogs and list what type of articles they may be interested in or perhaps an angle they are missing on their blog. You write the articles and send it to the admin, asking if they would be interesting in the article written as a guest blog article for their site. Usually you're allowed one (sometimes two) links within the article pointing back to your own blog and of course the authors bio section with all your links (social profiles and blog links). Some blogs also have a page specifically for guest authors with information outlining the standards and rules for guest bloggers. I apologise if you already know all this, not sure how much info you need.
