Even if that were true, artificially raising costs for our companies isn't a good thing.

No but it is a necessary thing if we want to stop China from eating our lunch as they have for decades now.

You are going to have a very difficult time selling the truth to the lefties. I am always amazed at their hypocrisy when they complain our of one side of their mouth about the destruction of union jobs and American business leaving the country and then in one motion, turn around and screech because Trump is trying to equalize trade with the very countries the lefties have been complaining about.
A number of the more prominent usual suspects here have yet to figure out President Trump is the first president with balls enough to go after the Chinese and they are very unhappy about that fact. If anything the Chinese will do everything they can to get Trump ousted in 2020.
Will we have 1500 OP's from the usual suspects whining "the Chinese influenced the election"? Highly doubtful.

These are final results of our day on Wall Street. Trump's precipitated drop on stocks is far worse than earlier. The Dow ended up off 623 points, reducing the Dow to 25,629. that is 81 points below March 15 when Trump started his trade war with China. The Nasdaq was off 240 points and the S&P 76.

What does all that mean? Because of Trump's tweets today, for the fourth time in a month, he cost millions of Americans to permanently lose principle in their retirement investment accounts. There are many doubters of that statement, but here is how that works.

It is really quite simple. It is 4th grade math.

An IRA has $100,000 dollars in it. Because of Trump's announcement the account loses $5,000. So now the account is down to $95,000. Follow me so far?

Due to market changes, at some point the account gains $5,000. So now the account is back up to $100,000. So, the account didn't lose money. Right?

WRONG! If the account had not lost the money in the first place, when market changes caused it to gain $5,000, the account would have $105,000 in it, not $100,000. The $5,000 lost because of Trump is permanent.

Sorry about that. I mean it. I lost, too, but I'm mostly in bonds. Too old to gamble.

Now I know what some are going to say. Some will say that is ridiculous or something similar. Some will lecture me on the stock market and investing. But no will be able to tell me why the 4th grade math is ridiculous or something similar. That's because the 4th grade math is right on.

Some will say, "Nothing is permanent until it is sold." That argument is made to counter selling stocks because of a downward trend. It has nothing to do with loss of principle, which is what I am talking about.

Thank you Mr. President. I look forward to your next tweet. Praise the Lord. It is the weekend. Trump can't do anymore damage until Monday.

I expect the Kremlin is loving this. The chaos and destruction trump is causing has to put a smile on Putin's face...

According to Trump. Right after he says something like that, he says the U.S. has the greatest economy in the history of the world.

Haven't you noticed? Those statements can't both be true. When it comes to his trade war with China, he is lying to you.

He talks about the deficit. We have a deficit because our economy is much larger than China's. We buy more. That causes a deficit between what we buy from them, and what they buy from us.

Then Trump says we lose over $500B a year to China. That is a two-part lie. He is off by a $100B, and the deficit is in goods, not cash, goods American consumers buy and goods American companies sell for profit. https://www.thebalance.com/u-s-china-trade-deficit-causes-effects-and-solutions-3306277

You are repeating what Trump says. Do you enjoy being lied to?

Indeed we are the greatest economy and Trump wants us to stay that way. We can't continue to take fire from China without fighting back.

Trump just made matters far worse. To him, this is a zero sum game. He simply doesn't care.

Did Trump forget he postponed the September 1st tariffs until December 15th?

If he imposes what now is a 15% tariff on popular goods like computers, cellphones, sporting gear, clothing, tennis shoes, etc. Trump can kiss his reelection goodby along with several Republican Senators and representatives.

Trump waited until the market closed before sending those tweets.

Trump threatened to dump thousands of Islamic State prisoners in Europe if the countries they originated from refused to take them back in.

Speaking with reporters at the White House, Trump specifically mentioned France and Germany as two countries where the prisoners could be dropped off.

"We're holding thousands of ISIS fighters right now, and Europe has to take them," Trump said. "If Europe doesn't take them, I'll have no choice but to release them into the countries from which they came, which is Germany and France and other places."

Geez, Trump is really losing it. What the hell is he talking about? We are not holding thousands of ISIS prisoners. Thousands of ISIS prisoners are being held in Syria by the SDF.

"The Syrian Democratic Forces, a US-backed Kurdish group, has the responsibility of holding thousands of prisoners in makeshift facilities.

"The SDF is detaining the lion's share of ISIS fighters. The SDF had detained 9,000 militants in Syria by April, according to US military officials. The military also estimated that 1,000 of them hailed from 50 countries."

"Our great American companies are hereby ordered to immediately start looking for an alternative to China, including bringing ... your companies HOME and making your products in the USA," Trump tweeted.

Trump can't order businesses to do a damn thing. We don't live in a socialist state. :)

It isn't true. Walker makes things up as he goes along while he and other Trump fans ignore the really important developments.

Walker and his friends have completely ignored this development. Why? Because their boy acted stupidly and millions of Americans permanently lost principle in their investment accounts because of what Trump did. His fans can't face that truth.

Trump fans have given up. You can hardly blame them. Their boy really screwed up this time. If he carries out what he says he will do, he can kiss his reelection goodby.

We will see what happens when Republican lawmakers come back to town. They can't be happy. Trump is costing them their reelection.

While Trump's fans are ignoring what Trump has said, so is everyone else.

Trump heads into the G-7 summit in coastal France more isolated than ever — and perhaps never more in need of the international coordination. Unfortunately, he has repeatedly assailed his G-7 partners.

This is a huge mistake. Trump has staked out a trade war with China, and the smart thing to do was to encourage our allies to partner with him in his trade war. All agree China is guilty of excesses and manipulation in its trading practices.

Instead, he has consistently attacked our allies much to the pleasure of the communist dictator of Russia, Vladimir Putin.

So far, Trump hasn't stirred up much discord at the G-7. I wonder how long that will last. Is it even remotely possible Trump has learned his lesson and is listening to others, like his own staff?

    Comedy hour at the G-7.

A summit of world leaders devolved into a confusing spectacle on Sunday when Trump signaled regret for his trade war with China only to have the White House reverse his position hours later.

Trump, for the first time, appeared to acknowledge regrets about his trade war with China and the escalating feud.

To a reporter's question about his trade war and the fears of global recession, Trump replied, “Yeah, sure. Why not. Might as well. I have second thoughts about everything.”

Maybe for the first time in his Presidency Trump lapsed and was being perfectly honest, which would be a rare moment for him.

Several hours later, White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham tried to recast Trump’s comments, alleging they had been taken out of context.

“The president was asked if he had ‘any second thought on escalating the trade war with China.’ His answer has been greatly misinterpreted. President Trump responded in the affirmative — because he regrets not raising the tariffs higher,” she said in a statement.

Trump’s top economic adviser, Larry Kudlow, offered an even different characterization later, telling reporters that Trump had difficulty hearing the question.

Aw, this is getting to be too much.

The Washington Post helped with this statement. https://www.washingtonpost.com/poli...42ea78-c67a-11e9-b5e4-54aa56d5b7ce_story.html

I forget which, but one of Trump's tweets indicates that he thinks the War Powers Act gives him that power.

He is truly assuming the extra legal powers of a dictator. Isn't it time for the 25th amendment to be applied? Since his lickspittle Cabinet obviously won't act on their own can't the businessmen's councils simply strike, like they did in Atlas Shrugged, and make his Cabinet do their duty?

But trump is doing it to wrong way. He is imposing tariffs on China that WE are paying for....all the while the POS lies about it....saying China is paying for it.

He has gone too far. He has taken a good economy and has doomed it to a recession next year.....

Much of the right wing has been permanently brain damaged by the likes of Limbaugh, Hannity, et al.

That's why I want to just end the US. You can't deal with people who don't care about facts. This is seriously dangerous stuff - the making of a Hitler right before our eyes.

In most threads that I've read lately, I see lies lies lies, and you can't even call them out for lying. So they lie and lie and lie again. It is perpetual chaos. A country with 40% of the electorate out of touch with reality, is doomed. We need to dump the red states before they take us all down with them.

Another day, another lie from trump. He claimed at a news conference during the G7 summit that Melania had met kim jung un, and then it turns out she has never met him.
But the White House spin was precious. They said that since trump confided so much in his wife, and had told her so much about kim, she felt like she knew him too.
Of course, the poorly educated will lap this up eagerly, but everyone else by now knows that trump is an incompetent, lying dotard, to quote his dear pal kim.

Trump became a real estate pitch man today.

Salesman Trump said Monday that hosting the summit at his Doral golf resort made perfect sense, calling the sprawling golf resort “a great place” and bragging that “it’s got tremendous acreage, many hundreds of acres, so we can handle whatever happens. It’s really — people are really liking it and plus it has buildings that have 50 to 70 units. And so each delegation can have its own building.”

Trump can be so much fun. He is worth a laugh a day and should never be taken seriously.

As Trump heads home from the G-7 meeting one thing is perfectly clear. Trump has isolated himself from the leaders of the free world.

Trump is at odds with the leadership of our allies when it comes to his burgeoning trade war with China, global recession. Russia and the G-7, climate change, Iranian nuclear deal, and trade.

For the first time since its founding 44 years ago a joint communique will not be written because the leaders cannot come up with a consensus thanks to the American President.

No doubt his base thinks this is progress. .
