I am kind of surprised that there aren't any threads about the newfound wealth bestowed on everyone by the Trump tax cuts. By now, the effect should have been evident in everyone's paycheck.

For myself, I've seen a whopping $80 per month increase in my paycheck. Whoohoo, I feel so rich. Now I can go out and buy all these things I've always dreamed about -- not.

In reality, this tax cut is inconsequential for my household finances. On the other hand, the tax cut will increase the national debt by $1.5 trillion. All that for a mere $80 per month?

What are other's personal experiences with the tax cuts?

    $75 bucks.

    that's what I got.

and in exchange we got $500 billion a year in more spending, massive tax cuts for corporations, and MY tax cut is temporary.

$500 billion more in spending, isn't winning.

Your tax cuts are temporary because every single Democrat voted against you getting that extra money every month.

Contact your representatives and ask that they put forward a bill making it permanent, but you and I both know they won't.

I've got an extra $200 a month. I don't know about you, but I'll have no problems putting that $200 a month into my daughters education fund.

That's an extra $24k + interest in the next 10 years.

No one is forcing you to take it, you can just return it to the treasury if you'd like.

the Republican bill called for temporary income tax rate cuts.

there was no alternative bill where they were permanent.

Republicans had to make some cuts temporary, in order to comply with the rules of Reconsiliation, so they decided to make the cuts that help the middle class the most, temporary.

That's because every Democrat was voting against it.

The only way to get it through was on reconcilliation rules, which meant it was temporary.

They could have made it permanent with a 60 vote bill, but there was no possibility of that happening.

When do we see the Democrat led bill asking that the personal tax cuts be made permanent?

they could have made the corporate tax cuts temporary instead, and made the income tax rate cuts permanent.

but the GOP is slaves to the corporations.

This is what your resistance gets you: self-inflicted damage.

I don't see Democrats complaining about your tax cuts being temporary, do you?

They don't care about you, they only care about non-US citizens.

That's just too bad.... I changed my W4 allowances this year so comparing my paycheck to 2017 would be apples to oranges. My total federal tax liability has decreased by $4,000 though so me happy. Thanks uncle Donald :D

    use this site: https://www.taxformcalculator.com/

Enter your 2017 numbers and calculate your taxes, then choose 2018, calculate again and compare. You might well be pleasantly surprised ;)

If you changed your allowances, you can't compare. I tried the tax calculator, it fits with what I see in my paycheck.

Without sitting down with a couple of stubs, I can’t tell. I got a pay raise at the same time and haven’t penciled out how much was because of which.

For what? From everything I've read the new W-4 withholding doesn't even take effect until 2/15/18.

People who work a "regular" job, and have taxes withheld from their paychecks, will likely see a change in their federal income tax withholding starting in early February.

And there you have it folks, more FAKE NEWS from the usual suspects. :applause:

Yesterday there were over 300 people at the mall with signs saying they were below the poverty line, because they made less than $26K per year....their taxes went up.

More mistruths. The original legislation would have made all the tax cuts permanent. However, Nancy "Shithole" Pelosi and crew called it Armeggedon
and withheld the super majority votes it would have taken to pass budgetary constraint's so Congress took what it could.

Sure, keep spouting things that are clearly not true.

The highest tax rates in America are implemented in places where liberals are in full control.

If you think Democrats care about your welfare they don't, you're just one of their useful tools.

So they put their IQ on full display huh?

Please explain how someone who makes less than $26k per year had their "taxes" go up.

BS, with $24,000 standard deduction for Married filing jointly, this is hardly possible :D Same for individual returns, the standard deduction is bigger than in 2017 (including the personal exemption) and the bracket has a lower rate.

The DNC must have paid them to demonstrate.

One thing to bear in mind, and I'm not sure how this will work. People who live in states where the state gubt clubs them like baby seals may not see a tax savings. I haven't looked at the new w-4, so I don't know how that handles things like state tax deductions to match withholding. Those same oppressive states are still killing their constituents with state income taxes as well. Sorry for their luck.

They get the same tax breaks as everyone else.

It's not our fault their state taxes are so high.
