It was worth a shot. What if BC, Alaska, Yukon, Washington, California, Alberta, Wyoming, Idaho and Oregon just break off from Canada and America and form Cascadia? We have Taco Bell's, Taco Del Mars and Taco Times.
http://library.usask.ca/northwest/contents.html A database of materials held by the University of Saskatchewan Libraries and the University Archives http://library.usask.ca/northwest/background/riel.htm Riel was the undisputed spiritual and political head of the short-lived 1885 Rebellion. He never carried arms and hindered the work of his military head, Gabriel Dumont. Riel was increasingly influenced by his belief that he was chosen to lead the Métis people. On May 15, shortly after the fall of Batoche, Riel surrendered to Canadian forces and was taken to Regina to stand trial for treason. And they hanged him ! He was hanged in Regina on 16 November, 1885. His execution was widely opposed in Quebec and had lasting political ramifications. Yes indeed, some folks north of the 49th fought for their FREEDOM and were put down by an oppressive government in Ottawa that did not respect their property nor their Canadianess. LONG LIVE RIEL!! Father of the Canadian West and martyr for Canadian Freedom! We did not hang him, those crazy Ontarians did. I've always thought we should split from those nut jobs. America can have them.
All I know about Canada...is that they ...or some of them...are offended and get mad if we don't know much about Canada, it's weather patterns, it territories etc. And that's all I gotta say about that.
In my daily read of Canadian news, I've come to one conclusion - that aren't one bit different than the USA!!!!! I see reports of shootings and robbery and rape and political corruption and major economic problems. Heck, we ought to form a North American Union with Canada and the USA forming a federation.
Yep a few shootings in Canada. About the same number per year that Chicago has on a long weekend. Yep a few rapes in Canada. About the same statistical average but comparisons are hard because we have a "sexual assault" category not a "rape" category. Yep political corruption abounds. Less than average, unless you live in Quebec. Yep major economic problems. MUCH LESS than the US, ironically mostly thanks to the US and our highly regulated banking environment. I am an advocate of the Rhinocerous party platform of a couple decades ago. they proposed that we sell Canada to the US and make every man, woman and child in Canada a multi-millionaire, so we could enjoy being American, since not having money in America is a serious bummer.
we know that the Canadians are the residue of British North America. we know that Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver exist. we know they say "ay" a lot. we know its dramatically safer up there. we know they have less guns, and less crime. we know they have a lot less black people. um...we know they have the Royal red Mounties. we know they gave us Justin Bieber, Seth Rogen, and James Franco. we know Quebec speaks French.
Montreal and Quebec were French Read Canadian news and discover they too have crimes and murders and racial unrest. And their politics are as screwed up as here.
And I thought Sgt Preston was the Father of the Canadian West. it's not even close, your politics is more screwed up than italy's, it's approaching third world level of disfunctional...even our extreme right wing parties eject nut cases that americans elect with regularity...
Racial ghettos in It just goes to prove what I have said, over and over here - How can a nation live half FREE and half FRENCH Oy Canada ! Does have affirmative action for recruitment of FRENCH Mounties ? Moi r > g No
Canada had the most potential of any nation in history. They could have had the culture of the British, the cuisine of the French and the technology of the Americans. Instead, they got the culture of the Americans, (not sure about that) the cuisine of the British and the technology of the French. Moi r > g No
Would any "northerner" care to enlighten this American on the Newfoundland Conspiracy. Newfoundland, the place had their autonomy torn away from them by Ottawa via dubious means. Support Freedom for Newfoundland. Don't let their limited resources and quaint way of life be further exploited unto destruction by Ottawa's interests Certainly, every nation has their dark side. It is just the Japanese and are superlative at denying their less than perfectly P.C., history. Japan is over there, is 's hat. It matters. Location. Location. Location. Moi r > g The Ottawa Way Screw Newfoundland How long can America stand by and witness abuses of FREEDOM
Wow, suddenly my PM box is filling up with questions about Canada's "dark side" and crap about Newfoundland having had their sovereignty stolen and now Louis Riel. Well, this Canadian relegates all that to history, which is subject to re-write based on any given individuals obsessions...but it is still history. And while the US still argues theirs, we tend to put (*)(*)(*)(*) behind us. Louis Riel is not known to anyone alive today, the facts cannot be proven and so it's really just mental masturbation. Thanks anyway, but the here and now is that people are dying in Iraq because of bad decisions by America....I suspect finding a "dark past" about Canada can help assuage what a (*)(*)(*)(*) up American war making has been
it was decision by the UK and a newfoundland referendum and little to do with canada... newfoundland was in debt, the UK didn't want them neither did canada or the USA...Newfoundland could've had complete independence had they wished...
Sounds like the Ottawa version of History. Some believe - http://theindependent.ca/2012/12/18/telling-the-newfoundlanders-an-idea-whose-time-has-come/ The history revealed in Dont Tell the Newfoundlanders reveals Canada to be a scheming and duplicitous colonial empire that annexed Newfoundland through a conspiracy in which they used their financial muscle to force a war-indebted Britain to begrudgingly participate. They even made a movie about it. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0105340/ The Independency of Newfoundland does have some spectacular fishing grounds in their waters. And something does smell fishy about Newfoundland's loss of autonomy for Ottawa corporationist. Eh. Moi r > g How Ottawa Bankrupted Newfoundland
Newfoundland - Labrador would be the province furthest north...... I think it is the same answer for #2 furthest east = Newfoundland/Labrador again...... and British Colombia for furthest west and no... the Yukon Territory is not a province yet. I have the funny feeling that Americans are about to become more interested in Canada......... once you see how we can have a significant effect on your elections. http://www.politicalforum.com/index...roy-the-usa-democratic-party-for-2018.526101/ Could P. M. Justin Trudeau manage to destroy the USA Democratic Party for 2018?
It does tend to be easier for us Canadians to get our Green Card to work in the USA though. Wow.... I am Canadian but I think I butchered two of my answers to those questions. It is looking like Quebec extends even further north than Newfoundland - Labrador does. The map I just posted in #70 here makes me think that my answer on which two provinces were combined into one could be incorrect as well.
