This country will rue the day a Democrat gets the next picks for the supreme court.

That may turn us totally into socialism.

    The constitution will cry.

They were not so political when I was in college.

Maybe I just did not know who to talk to.

This forum does seem to have a right-wing bias relative to the overall population.

The people on this forum are hardly politically informed, as my personal experience attests. Also, in terms of Intelligence Quotients, the socially liberal are, on average, more intelligent than the socially conservative, though there's a much weaker tie between economic positions and intelligence. It should be noted that the Republican Party used to be more intelligent, but that modern roles have reversed. That does, in fact, say a great deal about the political parties of today. I suspect that the reason that this forum has a conservative bias is rather simple; there was initially a very small difference, a random sort of thing, and that made liberals slightly less likely to become active members, which then reduced the total number of liberals, which then made liberals slightly less likely to become active members, and so forth until we see the current disparity.

You're missing a couple of things: 1st, Links of valid refs are used across this forum and so ppl have to read them which means, ergo they are "politically informed." Just because they may disagree with you does not mean that someone is wrong!

And next, intellect does not mean having innate Common Sense, where the liberal ideology often fails. And by the use of debate and humor (something liberals have as a short suit) most RWers can hold their own against pseudo, self-proclaimed intellectuals...

    Now, thx 65 and can I have a 66..:

I watch the nightly news on CBS, and I find that far more illuminating as to the current state of affairs than this forum. Heck, I go on another (moderately left-leaning) forum, and I find it more illuminating than this forum. Reading things posted by politically motivated people does not illumination make. I heavily dislike the idea of 'common sense', because if it exists at all it is far more uncommon amongst both parties than anybody would care to acknowledge. Also, you may have had a seizure while writing that last sentence.

This is the most successful political forum going by daily number of posts, threads, variety, etc. But to each his own..

Oh yeah, common sense is how our species survived & thrived..stay away from poisonous plants, etc

And the great civilizations of the past as Greece and Rome became run by educated fools who dismissed their common sense and ended up conquered and in ruin!

Huh? You think that Rome was 'conquered and in ruin'? While what we call the Roman Empire dissolved around 500 CE, the Byzantine Empire consisted of the eastern Roman Empire, and considered itself to be Rome, for another thousand years. The reason that it was eventually conquered by the Ottomans didn't have anything to do with common sense, it was a result of outdated fortifications on their capital being insufficient against new military technology.

Also, 'common sense' is not code for 'things that seem obvious in retrospect' and 'things that I agree with'. Other people can have different opinions from you without being fools, and that's a pretty fundamental life lesson.

So where did you go wrong?

Roman ppl got lackadaisical and involved with lust & luxury, and the slave population grew to about 1/2 of Rome while the citizens 'fiddled'..became easy pickings for the Barbarians.

Sounds like a lack of common sense to me!

I don't think I could be able to get the US citizenship and the right to vote for the President before of next November ...

Jokes a part, this poll should consider that PF is an international political forum [on internet countries substantially aren't], so that many PF members reading the title of this thread think "why the hell should I vote for the American President?".
