There is a thread on reversing desertification in Zimbabwe by using livestock from a couple of years ago. I'll see if I can find it for you. Its comprehensive.

Too bad grazing has become so politically incorrect.

    More than "too bad", absurd!

Who makes that claim? They have been doing controlled grazing in Zimbabwe for nearly a decade with good results.

California crazy fires, a lack of grazing.
Imagine the power of goats. City of Laguna Beach, Ca. has. Cheaper than Mexicans clearing brush.
Most hear grazing and jump to over grazing and ecosystem destruction ala Brazil.
Bundy and grazing. I support both. That's Bundy 1, not Bundy 2 although I am very sympathetic to the Hammond Family Ranch. (Search)
The Federals are anti grazing in policy. How about, responsible grazing.
The cowboy, Prez Reagan created fees to graze Fed Lands by Executive Order.
And families such as the Bundy family who grazed marginal land for generations were offended as am Moi.

Responsible grazing is a win for the ecosystem. Not all one sided.
Some plants, especially grasses, evolved a need to be grazed for healthy growth.

Say grazing and most people envision "bad". :flagus: anyways
And I imagine most U.N. advisers.

Bundy was a free graze guy.. and didn't pay his grazing fees. Good ranchers moved their herds every few months AND paid their grazing fees.

You didn't bother to read the article, did you?

Restoring grazing lands is about moving herds off the area after a few weeks or days.. Their hooves break up the top soil for better absorption when it does rain and manure encourages the growth of grasses.

Bundy moved his herds on public lands and left them for ten months.

Can’t unless you change Earths convection patterns. Look up Hadley cells.

I read the Bundy stuff as I could.
I never read of any accusation of over grazing.
Just not paying the fees mandated by Executive Order by Reagan.

What's wrong with you, bear? I don't live in a ghetto and I don't live anywhere near Miami.

Let me invite you to read up on grazing on public lands.

My interest is because a childhood friend that I still see from time to time is a rancher with 7,000 sheep and 10,000 cows and we have discussed grazing practices.

Are you familiar with grazing practices since 2007 in Zimbabwe? I posted a thread about it about 2011.

He didn't pay his fees and he left his herds out for 10 months.. Good ranchers don't do that.

And how much of Florida do the Federals illegally claim as opposed to Nevada!

    map-owns_the_west.jpg

Illegally because once organized into a State, it is the State's turf. Not Federal.

Who would claim they have a childhood friend with 17,000 head ? (We are not talking chickens here )

You know how big of a ranch that would have to be? Damn it would be so huge you would brag about it for years , at least 10 square miles

Yes, he's a very successful rancher. who also leases land in Canada. Bundy is trash. Don't be so impressed with these renegades who are involved with the Sovereign whatever movement... They aren't American heroes. they are moochers and dirtbags.

I always thought deforestation was the single greatest human impact on climate change. Anything that can be done to turn that around should be tried.

I had this idea that if there's a desert below sea level in elevation, you could pipe in sea water and use gravity to drive reverse osmosis, separating out fresh water.
Several deserts exist that are below sea level. The Dead Sea area in Jordan, the Sea of Galilee, the Turfan Depression in China, Death Valley in California.
